Guest Andy Kempster Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 does anyone know the title of the Al Wilson LP released on Wand...??? apparently it was his only LP release on this label.. looking for a copy for a mate if anyone can help with any info
Pete S Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I doubt very much if there's an LP on Wand - one flop single wouldn't warrant the making of an album.

Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 There is confusion over this one as it may not be THEE Al Wilson No confusion at all over this one, actually - it's most definitely a different Al Wilson, the more famous (and, sadly, now deceased) one confirmed as much to Ady when he had him on at Cleethorpes some years back. Although Al was enough of a gentleman to learn the song, and to perform it in his show there!

Although Al was enough of a gentleman to learn the song, and to perform it in his show there! that's kind of horrible that, as a singer, instead of people wanting to hear your big hit ("show and tell", etc.) they want to hear an extremely obscure record by someone else who isn't even you and that got no play, and you actually have to perform it and pretend it's you.
Dave Pinch Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 there was another al wilson who was in canned heat who died of a drug overdose in 1970. but his voice was very distinctive also so chances are it wasnt him who did the wand 45. i also had a heated argument some years ago with someone who said the AW on soul city and AW on rocky ridge/playboy were two different fellows........................ dave
