Your copy "without centre" is the first issue.

The "solid centre" is a reissue - and a different mix, possibly stereo if I remember right.

all the demo`s ive seen are the mf 1122 original from 1969 and all have had middles cut out. but there are original issues with full centers.it was reissued in 1971 on a 7 digit number with and without centers but i personally have never seen a reissue demo. this reissue was on catalogue for a few years with the early copies on paper labels and then on ink labels

Makes sense, about 1970 or very soon after, Philips stopped doing the White / Red demos, so a reissue from '71 probably had no demo

This must have been the different mix - must admit, I've had many of both, and never noticed the list number change.

Around 78/79 when wholesaling records, we managed to persuade Phonogram or whoever controlled Mercury to do us a custom pressing of 5,000 x "Moody Woman" on paper labels/solid centre....so last re-issue was way past 71.

300 quid!!! Has the World gone MAD!!!???

Nah the worlds not gone mad "denbo",

British label collecters will always pay large sums of cash to complete their collections.

And why not? Its their money, good luck to 'em

Cheers Paul

I collect English too, have done for yonks, but Jerry Butler - Moody Woman - Mercury MF 1122 at £300!!! Never!!! Really??? Can't believe it. Used to see bloody hundreds of them around Liverpool back in the early 70s. Why the sudden interest and massive price???

IT WORRA DEMO, THOSE TWO ISSUES ARE PROBABLY ONLY WRTH £20 BETWEEN THEM. HAVING SAID THAT £300 IS ABSOLUTELY RICCIDOODELOUS.

BRI PINCH.

A Demo you say? Didn't realise that. But like you said, still ridiculous!!!

PS - I wasn't trying to sell them, just showing scans of them to add further content to the thread.

i should point out it was £300 with some hours to go...so the bid could have been withdrawn or could have gone higher....or i could be going blind.....i stared at it (the price) for a while tho....did anyone else see it?

This isn't so, I've got a 1st issue which is a solid centre

Yes, Steve, I realised soon after I said it, from the above postings.

The '69 MF issues have both solid and cut out centres (most are cut out, like the demo). I didn't even know the record had been issued in '71 with a different 6052 list number with a solid centre, and presumably cut out center aswell.

Also, the reissue I was talking about that was a different mix with a solid centre, was Neils '79 custom / phonograph reissue, until a couple of days ago that was the only reissue I was aware of.

Just found a 6052 - - the B side is different - "A Brand New Me" - this is '71

The MF release has "Go Away - Find Yourself" as the B side.
