Guest Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 She died today. I shall miss her. I was the one who got Record Shack to put her records out and had hits with them. I remember when I put her on at Heaven, and she was so tipsy she fell off the stage and was caught and put back by the guys in the audience. She did have one great Northern Soul record on Musicor, but she was a true legend. Her greatest line was in the comedy film with Eddie Murphy, called "Boomerang"...... "I'm not wearing any panties". Sad but her memories will always make me laugh.
soul45s Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Two great 45s on Musicor, 'There Comes a Time' & 'Anyway you want it baby' God bless her and thanks Eartha for being you! cheers paul

Pete S Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I'm still amazed that very few of us recognise "There comes a time" as being a monster Solid Hitbound production - that sax solo, it's Mike terry all the way. Great record. She was a pretty groovy catwoman as well I seem to remember.

I've added the Jools Holland/ Eartha clip and Ian, there's something there for you....
Guest Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Thread started in people with soul Ian. Sorry but this one started first, yesterday in fact.

Sorry she's passed away and all that, but.......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So did George Best.

Sorry she's passed away and all that, but.......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only know of Eartha Kitt from Saturday night light entertainment programes from the 60s and 70s and wouldn't necessarily have associated her with the soul scene. However, IMHO you are wrong to say that this artiste should not get a mention on here. The posted tunes above show that this lady had more in her locker than I thought she had. Get a grip Joker; there are plenty of hits on this scene with far less soul!!!!!!! All the best to you and yours. KTF. Drew.

Pete S Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Not too much of that about , RIP true Legend Hope you had a good Christmas Pete despite the setbacks , all the best for the new year Thanks Leigh, wasn't too bad really apart from this horrendous cough left over from the flu, but last night I splept through til 4am until the coughing started, managed to go to sleep again at 5.30. I feel sorry for anyone else who's got this, what a nasty bug! As for christmas, as you know, all our christmas money went up in smoke but I managed to get Sam some nice things and I got Dee a new telly for the bedroom using the rent money Anyway mustn't grumble, Sam had a whale of a time, thats the important thing, shame Dee had to break her foot the day before Xmas eve though
