Guest smudgesmith
Can i please have the views of other Soul Sourcers regarding this Auction. Tim has some great and rare tunes monthly on his auction page. This month there was one of my long time wants and i therefore entered a bid. The auction site stipulates the finishing time @ 2.00pm GMT!!!.At 2.10 pm my bid was still the highest therfore i assumed i had been successful. Before anyone asks ,yes i did refresh the page on numerous occassions! On contacting Anglo this morning to check results i was told i didnt in fact win but lost out by £140.00 and the person that updates the site wasnt in on Friday.I would have liked the chance to have competed fairly. I have no problem losing fair and square, thats the idea of an auction, the highest bidder wins. Link to comment Social source share

Guest smudgesmith
has he told you who the winner was could be guys from uncle payback time No name for winner Paul just what it went for. Guys from uncle eh..........does that mean i have to wait another 35yrs for the Four Voices I am a little pissed i didnt win,but thats not the point im trying to make. The auction stipulates a 2.00pm finish,at 2.10 my bid was still the highest, the site was not updated therefore i assumed i was the winner. As i stated in my earlier post these are expensive records and more care should be taken during an auction like this. You know i do spend a few bob Paul, and have done with Tim previously this incident will make me think very carefully in future. PS does anyone want to make an old soulie very happy and sell me a copy of the 4 Voices 1st issue please!!!!!! Guest moggy
If your bid was showing as the top bid after auction had finished then they should bloody well honour it Its not your fault someone is off work at the sellers end Thats a piss poor service if ever I've heard one. CAMBRIDGE SOUL
=== should never have got rid of set sales.. He hasn't , but rare choons need to go to the top bid, as Andy said he's been looking for 35 yeras...auctions give everyone a chance....and sometimes you get a bargin Link to comment Social source share
Pete S
Most of these auctions just continue until there hasn't been a bid for a certain amount of time, despite them saying that there will be a cut off point Link to comment Social source share
Ernie Andrews
Most of these auctions just continue until there hasn't been a bid for a certain amount of time, despite them saying that there will be a cut off point I think this is wrong Pete especially when you cannot view the bids going in - At least on Jms auction you can see the bids going in even when its extended. The Gripe here is Mr Brown has falsely taken a bid in the same way as the TV voting scams- Well thats my opinion. I am starting to Think Tim is losing some credibility here with this kind of thing happening and selling records on his auction that are not accurately graded. He manages his business - he is responsible! Link to comment Social source share
Billy Jo Jim Bob
I've never bid on any of the dealer auction sites, but would have thought that technology being what it is today, that the bid amount would automatically update when a new bid is entered ? I'm not familiar with Tims auctions but its not rocket science....any ISP/web designers would have this sort of application package available. Guest gordon russell
they are not really auctions are they.......days get added on.....records appear to go for far more than is usual......it is widely accepted that most folk watch the auction and E-BAY,l have seen numerous occasions where records for auction are on at the same time as the same tune is on E-BAY for a cheaper buy it now price, yet the E-BAY one never sold and the auction one sold for double.Actually think a lot of auction stuff never sells, just made to appear so to keep prices high Link to comment Social source share

PS i see your going to Middleton you can by me a drink to help me drown my disappointment...its only a bit of plastic. Is Tony coming? Link to comment Social source share
Steve G
If it is a manual system I think there is a moral obligation by the seller to keep the auction price current. Otherwise it's not really an auction is it. Sounds a bit poor to me but Tim also lost out by not getting as much for the record as he could. Otherwise it's not really an auction is it. Sounds a bit poor to me but Tim also lost out by not getting as much for the record as he could. I think you're right on this, sounds very much like his technology doesn't match what he's actually doing and he doesn't realise that probably more people watch/would bid(?) on the internet than actually ring him up. To my mind you need to be clear about what's going on, so if you can ring up and overbid what is shown on the web site, then either the web site has got to be updated or at least show some disclaimer that whatever shown on the web site is not necessarily up to date. I never bid on dealer web sites for three reasons: I'm a cynic; Prices go too high; I don't spend that sort of money on records Ta paul Link to comment Social source share
