Oh well as it's Christmas I guess quite a few of you will be getting compilation CD's & albums from Santa so was just wondering what you'll be hoping for this year.

There's so much to go at now & thought it might be interesting to see what folks favourite comps are.

Ady's Kent comps, all the Goldmine stuff, Ian Levines recent packages etc. The list is endless.

Guess my favourites are the top quality Soul Spectrum albums put together by Keb Darge & the Togetherness albums that come out at the end of each year.

Off you go.

I would have to say that the cd DJ Honky made up and gave out was rather spiffing. yes.gif

Yes I agree. Its amazing to think the New Yak crowd get down to these type of records. Wonders never cease.

I hope he is releasing disc 2 soooon.

Thanks for the kind words - glad you've been enjoying it! I'm working on the follow up, but have been sidetracked by a lot of time spent on organizing our Dig Deeper nights. Planning to be a 3CD affair of a little crossover/modern, a little 60s stomp, and a little funk - should hopefully be done by mid '09.

Must agree with Big H - the Numero compilations are phenomenal. Lest anyone think we found Eula Cooper ourselves, full credit goes to the guys at Numero for a lot of hard work researching the fantastic Tragar / Note / Super Sound compilation. She'll hopefully be over in the UK in 2009 as well - do not miss her!!!

Merry Christmas, all!

- honky

ps - Still have a few of my last one if anyone missed it the first go-round...

Off you go.

Here is one for those itching to spend their pennies they got from Santa .......

a vinyl only ( as far as I am aware of ) album compilation worth searching out , is one put out on Track ( Polydor ) in the UK in 1970 , entitled " Backtrack 6 " , which can be found from reputable dealers such as JM , who has a copy at the bargain price of £20 ........

Track listing -

The Parliaments - ( I wanna ) testify

Al Kent - You've got to pay the price

The Debonaires - I'm in love again

The Parliaments - Let hurt put you in the loser's seat

The Sandpebbles - Because of love

The Debonaires - Headache in my heart

The Precisions - If this is love (I'd rather be lonely

The Parliaments - I can feel the ice melting

The Sandpebbles - Love power

The Parliaments - Don't be sore at me

Al Kent - Where do I go from here

B6 was hailed as THE most important soul LP release in the UK at the time .

agree honky's was wicked but for me it has to be kents 'footstompers' bought it back in 84 when i was a 17 scooterboy (so maybe a bit of nostalgia) but thats been my desert island disc ever since...i have others with better individual tracks but overall thats the best for me...

i cant ecape from you/like one/take away the pain stain/10 shades of blue/playin hide and seek/you should o held on/bring him back/you dont love me anymore(jc)/soul symphony/la rue/ill always need you(lb)/tears(nothin but tears)/craked up over you/youve been away/we go together/i surrender....

it does what it says on the sleeve !
