I can think of a lot more that I never want to hear played out again, ever For example, If thats what you wanted, or cause your mine, or Carstairs. Coops
loved 'em both back in the early 80s but now....... i still enjoy them in me car, great steering wheel tappers but somewhat of a waste of a 'window' that could be filled with something not so tried and tired when i'm out, if you get me meaning. Both classics so the place to hear them is a classic oldies night. As for some of the overplayed comments why does a record get overplayed? Simply because people like e'm & why do people like e'm? Easy - Because they are bloody good records. Link to comment Social source share
Mal C
I absolutely love Alfie Davidson, Brilliant record which takes me straight to 1986, my last school disco's and attending my first scooter rally in Margate where I bought the SOS single and my first Paddy Smith... Great memories..!!! Was never that keen on Greg Perry, find it a bit boring really. Mal.C. Edited December 19, 2008 by Mal.C. Link to comment Social source share

As for some of the overplayed comments why does a record get overplayed? Simply because people like e'm & why do people like e'm? Easy - Because they are bloody good records. I, Nowadays, don't go to oldies venues, because, in some part, i was sick of hearing the same old "oldies"...(including, modern as above). And some of the others mentioned; frankie beverly...vibrations...carstairs.......etc. If i do manage to get out, it's the Hideaway...moorlands/sureshot..middleton/back beat...and that's just about it. I have a young family and commitments other than that. I love "oldies", but, we all have our own taste i understand. This thread was born out of frustration of years of turture....to my ears!! and did you agree or disagree? I suppose, to me, those two records are the ringleaders of the overplayed. I also feel Soul music lost its true feel at the arrival of "DISCO". It's been fun, watching this thread continue in its debate....whilst i've had a few giggles along the way. It's amazing that ssoooo many different opinions come from one simple word...SOUL... . AND NOW!! Northern295
I've got to agree with a couple of posts on this, Greg Perry never liked it, Alfie Davison great song. Are they oldies ? for me definitely NO, but I'm 50+ and don't associate them in that category. Like Lenny says, in Scotland we have some pseudo Oldies clubs that will pack the floor when Alfie Davison is played but play something from 1962 and it's tumbleweed time !! alan Link to comment Social source share
