My mate is going to new york 21st dec to 31st and would like to know of any soul nights or concerts that might be on whilst he is there ?

Unfortunately the excellent Dig Deeper (with monthly live performances by the likes of Don Gardner, Dean Parrish, Tami Lynn et al + northern/funk 45s) will NOT be held the fourth Saturday of this month as it usually is...

It's a bit hit and miss but might be worth him calling this place to see who is on (I have seen Maxine Brown there among others but it is mainly a Jazz venue).........

Another stop to make uptown (if your friend is interested in a bit of Soul history) is the Schomburg Centre and spend an hour or two looking through the photographic library -some cracking shots of the Apollo etc.
