Denbo Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Accidentally stumbled across Part 2 of this biopic. Part 3 is next (obviously), presumably next Saturday night (or was it Sunday, bugger me, can't remember now?). Anyhow, it was on channel 24, I'm sure of it. Careful though, 'cos some rather raunchy soft porno programme came on after it finished. I'd gone to play some records in another room, really got into the mood after watching the biopic, when my youngest lad came in and asked what the hell did I have on telly in the back room, with a big grin on his face. So, well worth watching out for next weekend. The Temptations biopic that is.
Pete S Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Is this the one from about 6 years ago? You can get the whole thing on a real low budget priced dvd, well you used to be able to. Superb.

Superb. Don't know when it was released Pete but it didn't look brand new or that old, so maybe you're right. Just did some research and it was on Movies 24 from 8.30 to 10.30pm Sunday 14th December. I thought it was finished at 9.30 so obviously missed the last part. Think I might go searching for the DVD. Yes, it was superb. Great clothes. And of course, that 60's style!!!
Guest in town Mikey Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Yep. Got my DVD for a quid in one of the supermarkets I think.

You can get the whole thing on a real low budget priced dvd, well you used to be able to. Superb.

Kris Holmes Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Yes it's a great film, better than the Jacksons one IMO. I love the scene where the Ruffins are doing "Shout" at the Motown xmas party, killer, also the Speedos "Cadillac" at the start is fire.
De-to Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Just bought one and the price has come down to 1.19 postage is 1.79 so less than 3 squid cant be bad regards Ianthe seller has only 445 left to sell,
Citizen P Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Yeah, it's good stuff, my girls bought for me for Crimbo 'bout 5 years back. Now The Five Heartbeats- saw it on telly ONCE, thought it was excellent-did it ever get to DVD?? Two or three of the same actors in both, if memory serves. ATB Tony
Stubbsy Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 the seller has only 445 left to sell, 444 now

When they made the Temps movie only one of the original line up was left, so the film is his interpritation of what happened. WESTY
Guest bazabod_downunder Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Here's a scan of the insert......you may be right, it has some soundtrack by The Dells as well as Patti Labelle amongst othere. KTF Baz I may be mistaken but, I think The Five Heartbeats is also about the Temptations, however two of the original line up were alive at the time so they couldn't say it was the Temps and said it was the Dells instead. Robert Townsend wrote produced and directed The Five Heartbeats and went on tour with the Dells before making the film. The Dells influence is seen in the film giving it a realistic feel to life on the road but they kept their line up intact for forty years. The Five Heartbeats is a disguised biography of The Temptations.

Bully Boy Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Yeah Smokey singing at the funeral------ fabulous . Interesting the Tammi Terell connection with David Ruffin as portrayed in the film That is Right Though Jez Tammi Terrell and David Ruffin were an item for a short time...........and if rumours are right, he may have been responsible for Tammi's death

Hi Chalky, If you find that 'spare' let me know, I'll take it off your hands for 97p. Seriously, I haven't had time to locate a copy yet, even though I've been given enough pointers.
