Marvelettes...the Return Of...lp

I`ve just bought a white demo of this LP for 14 Dollars, now just waitin for it to come from over da pond. Are there any decent tracks on it or have I just bought a dull dud?

Depends what you're into Andy but I reckon you got yourself a bargain. Don"t think theres any northern tracks as such but choc full of great soul music produced by Smokey Robinson and arranged by Wade Marcus and the great David Van De Pitte. Released 1970.

Couple of nice covers of "Thats How Heartaches Are Made" and "Someday We'll Be Together"

No I can't confirm this, but I am lead to believe that this album is infact The Andantes, as the Marvelettes had broken up and so they were brought in to fill their shoes for the project. Can anyone else confirm, where's Tony

Hi Dave,

I thought this LP was instigated as the group reformed. Hence the "Return of...." It didn't work for them so the group disbanded again after this LP I think. Andantes? I've not heard that tale before. Have to dig it out and give it a good listening to.

I'm pretty sure it's Wanda on lead vocals... but she is the only real Marvellette on the album

That's correct, it was meant to be a solo album but Berry Gordy felt it was a better marketing ploy to call it a Marvelettes album

I never realised that. Great stuff.

Just done some reserach and it appears that Wanda was actually the only Marvelette in attendance. It seems to make sense as the cover of the album clearly shows three girls but only one can be positively identified (Wanda). The other two were The Delicates who are credited as being the latter half of Undisputed Truth!
