Are you after prices?? There's not anything terribly $$$ in the list that I can see at a glance. The Quincy Jones is a good listen & is cheap to find, Spaghetti Head "Funky Axe" is a monster funk cut too but not as rare as it was once thought (I made a profit off a box of unplayed stock copies about 5 years ago), should be able to get one for $20 pretty easy. That list also contains A LOT of chud.

Posted

What exactly are you after? Good question. From where I'm standing it looks like the old "post a list of mostly average stuff up, ask people to get in touch if they're interested, if more than 3 people ask about a certain record put it on ebay..."

i.e. getting other people to sort your wheat from your chaff.

Would that be correct?

This is a soul forum about soul music. I can't see a dancer hiding behind Davaroses wheel chair or are you trying to car boot us but without the car, the boot and the pitch

That seems a little cynical to me, but probably only because I'm naive as to how the world works. Some time ago I posted a file of what I thought to be my Northern records - I guess I was looking for people to say "Nice records" or "Such-and-such is a particularly good one" or "Just a bunch of junk, not even Northern, try again". I got a couple of PM offers (I wasn't looking to sell them, but I can now understand the confusion on that), and a couple of replies along the lines of the ones here, i.e. "What is the purpose of your post?". My only goal, as a record hoarder, was to pick the brains of people in the know and, although the response was limited, it was still helpful.

Then again there's always Ian Levine, isn't there?

Cynical? Moi? I'm just stating what the poster has done...

Right, I'm just unfamiliar with how it all works. People inquire about the value of records so they know what they can sell them for. Which is a bit of a puzzle for me, as on Ebay if you start at a dollar you'll still get whatever it's "worth", if you're lucky. I like to know what they're worth, but mostly just so I can admire them that much more when I flip through them.

If you want to know what they're worth, actually do the legwork yourself, don't be lazy & expect others to do it for you without contributing. Man up & stop acting like a newjack, put the work in to acquire the proper knowledge. People on record message boards get real tired real fast of people just hit & running with cryptical "what are my records worth" posts. Sorry if this is harsh, but 99% of that list are common as records which you could have priced yourself without being lazy about it & fishing for a bite.

And, nz45s, your entire "reply" is rhetorical, I guess, or merely directed at the wrong poster, as it wasn't my list or thread in the first place. I'm fretting that I won't be able to stop acting like a newjack, though, until I can figure out what that means (still, I'll manage to get through it).
