Guest SteveJohnston Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I found this interesting and thought it would be a good topic for all about soul but if it needs moving to all our yesterdays mod's 1st December 1974 Groove City changed to Soul Bowl list 43 being Groove city's last and consequently 44 Soul Bowl's first and the notice of business name change letter that came with list 43. Just look at the records available and prices. The collection of list from 71 to about 79 makes interesting reading and range from Greensleeves of London, Selectadisc from 162 Canal Street to 92 Arkwright Street. grove_city.pdf grove_city_to_soul_bowl.pdf soul_bowl.pdf Steve J

No idea what it sounds like, still got the tape.... somewhere... The only "7" Sons track that Pat played back in the day was "don't you dare say no" on Soma 1462 Tis a very hard to find record but what a record it is (well i like it anyway) I think it was at Stafford he played it I'm sure thats what he told me. If you can find the tape "on the run" can you post it up Steve J

Steve G Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Some great stuff here - amazing how there was so little difference in prices and bhow some have gone up and other haven't really.
Blake H Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Connie Laverne, GSF, £3.50 One of my alltime top 10 45s, what price now? What I notice is that as a percentage of my wage at the time you could take a blind buy or two, having said that there are still some great £10 records to be had. I'll have to dig out some old Manship lists. Happy days BH

Guest mel brat Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 remember buying thelma lindsey "prepared to love you" for 85p off their catalogue, diidn't even have to reserve it by phone, wonder how many they had???? Quite a few copies of Thelma Lindsey came through at one time, we had to wonder if they were actually bootlegs! (I had one for about .80p at the last night of the Cats in July '74), however once they went they'd gone, as it were, and the record wasn't THAT huge first time around so I guess a lot of people weren't so fortunate! The above Soul Bowl lists look like early '80s ones to me due to the then in-demand 70s items listed. My own Eula Cooper was £20 from Soul Bowl C.1976. (At that time easily the most I'd ever paid for a record) I'd have been very annoyed to see 'em selling for £7, but many prices dropped dramatically, particularly by the 80s. James Fountain was £3 if I remember correctly, Mel Britt £12, Lee David issues £2.50.
