Guest Russ Smith Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Can anybody remember if this was played covered up and by who ? ( Some may ask why also ...) I remember it from the late 70s at Peterboro/ St Ives. It was definitely not popular with everybody!!! i like it as a guilty/perverse pleasure, actually played it a couple of times with mixed results a few years back. Its truly bonkers and the production is appalling but its still in my collection.

Never seen a demo either, probably Alan Rhodes discovery ? Didn't seem to be played for long, a few turned up and that was that. Definitely a dancers' record Edited December 11, 2008 by Russ Smith
Wiganer1 Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Gotta get myself up to Nuneaton.. =========== yip we've had a GREAT year this year Russ and you'd be most welcome
Sebastian Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Fantastic tune in my opinion. And much harder to find copies of than most people realize.
Prophonics 2029 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 (edited) My mate has a copy and I got one in a few weeks so could have been lucky at the time. Funny its that old on the scene I think it fits in more today on the R&B side of things. Never looked closely at it before today with its Nashville matrix stamp. I used to give this a spin at Annesley 7 or 8 years ago, the only person that used to get up and dance to it was my wife Karen ( she loves it ) I think it may have been a bit too fast for some of them Had two copies if this but I was never really happy with the sound quality of either of them Steve B

Guest krawen Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 == the 4th copy i got (current one) is the only one that plays decent! There is good copies knocking about then, as i would like a decent one. The label used to make me laugh as I think the A.B.S. stood for Always Better Sound or something like that but they played shite Like i say i still want a decent sounding one though if anyone wants to part with one Steve B
Guest Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Funny its that old on the scene I think it fits in more today on the R&B side of things. I bought Elliot Small - "I'm A Devil" and Gerri Hall - "Who Can I Run To" both in Wigan Casino record bar on the same night for £3 each! Who would have thought, years later, the prices would end up so different!
Guest Russ Smith Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 (edited) How much four a copy then guys £25 - 40 ? Depending on soundquality Edited December 12, 2008 by Russ Smith

Mark Oliver Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 (edited) Dave Alcock used to play this at TOTW..... Hi Jim I hope all's well with you. The first tape Dave did for me had this on it and it's just one of that tracks that you just have to sing along to! Also like Girls are made for lovin' on Bang / New Sound.
