A Question About Saturday Night

We all know its easy being a Dj, and especially easy pleasing all of the people all of the time, but what one of the Djs was to play a few 'current' tunes, for example Margaret Little on Saturday. How would people feel?

Bearing in mind that Stafford was first, last, and the bit in the middle about progression.

I'm really looking forward to hearing my old faves, ones I'd forgotten and some I'm damn sure I have never heard before despite only missing a handful of Stafford allnighters. But if Mick or Sam was to lend Guy, Margaret Little, I for one would be delighted.

But some I assume wouldnt.

It wasnt uncommon for DJs to borrow a record and play it, whereby getting the kudo's but not actually owning the record played.

Dont let all my secrets out Rach.

I might be looking for your support actually Steve. If (When) Bristol City beat theWendies Saturday week, and take their playoff spot. There could be some of your city folk looking for a bit of revenge.

Anyway, back to the question.

Do you think it should be all Stfford oldies, or would some newer discoveries be acceptable to peoples tastes too??

On the original question, I wouldn't know if it wasn't an 'authentic' Stafford record unless it's something I know is a recent 'discovery'... see what you mean about the 'spirit' of progressiveness but on the other hand would be nice if they did stick to exclusively Stafford tunes to recreate the 'sound' both for those who were there and those of us who didn't experience it at the time... though I don't suppose the odd one or two would make a huge difference to that.

Yours indecisively....

Mikey, look at Mark and Shane. Worried now

Back to topic, I think newer discoveries would fit in with the Stafford ideal.

But is it a sixties mafia reunion or a general Stafford one. Big difference in musical styles. :shades:

If it's a reunion, it's a reunion. It's aimed at brining together people who used to enjoy Stafford.

So if it's a Stafford reunion it only has to be a night that appeals to folks who used to go to Stafford.

If it's a Stafford revival night then it can only play tunes wot wuz played at Stafford, innit?

I think.

Anyway I don't care. I ain't going.

I remember boogieing the night away to Booker Newbury III "Love Town" at Stafford, and it being played in the next week or so on Top Of The Pops.

Wonder if that gets played this Saturday biggrin.gif
