Sebastian Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) I've just found a Senator Jones 45 that I've never seen mentioned anywhere. It's on the INTERNATIONAL CITY label and has got two good sides, especially "Eenie Meenie Miney Minnie & Moe" which has got gritty vocals and second-line drumming all the way through. Has anyone of you come across it earlier? I thought this label was fairly well researched but can't find a mention of this disc. While I'm at it, here's a discography of Senator Jones 60s solo 45s: INTERNATIONAL CITY 729 - Eenie Meenie Miney Minnie & Moe / Country Soul WATCH 6337 - Sugar Dee / I Think Of You HOT LINE 120 - Whatcha Gonna Do / Boston Fleet WHURLEY BURLEY 101 - Call The Sheriff / Let Your Self Go SAPPHIRE 913 - Baby It's Too Late / My Baby's Back SHAGG 713 - Do You Love Me / Who's Loving Her Now SHAGG 801 - The Fat Man / Today And Tonight BELL 687 - Miniskirt Dance / Sweet Thing Has anyone got anything to add? I have added that info to the listing above. Also found another Bell 45 plus one on Sapphire. Can it be that the "The Sheriff" 45 in R&B indies is in fact the 45 released as WHURLEY BURLEY 101? Is INTERNATIONAL CITY 729 mentioned in R&B indies?

Jaco Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 No listing for International City 729 in R & B Indies. Now that you point it out the unknown listing for "The sheriff" could be the release on Whurley Burley.

I can't quite make out the full title of the "... My Baby's Back" side on the SAPPHIRE 45. Do you know what it is? R & B Indies has Bell 649 as Salena Jones. Thanks for pointing that out. Salena also got an issue on UK Columbia. Have added the additional/correct info to the discography in the first post now. I'll post up some clean scans of the Whurley Burley 45 when I find it... (have searched a couple of hours for it, have no idea where I've placed it! ) Edited December 12, 2008 by Sebastian
Sebastian Posted December 12, 2008 Author Posted December 12, 2008 I just found out that Senator Jones passed away in his sleep on November 29th this year and his funeral service took place this past saturday (December 6th). Very sad.

"My Baby's Back" is the full title. There's a nice tribute to Senator Jones at "The B Side": https://redkelly.blogspot.com/2008/12/ray-j...hep-me-111.html
