Geoff Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Apologies if this has been dealt with before, but is the Garnett Mimms' track As Long As I Have You available on a 45? I think Chalky played it off an LP at Hitchin a few months ago. Think it's a great track, good uptempo Northern Soul. Has it been played out generally?
Prophonics 2029 Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 (edited) Yes last few weeks Geoff & Pete, the UK copy is a live version and said to not be as good as the LP track?. Edited December 10, 2008 by Prophonics 2029
Liljimmycrank Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Yes last few weeks Geoff & Pete, the UK copy is a live version and said to not be as good as the LP track?. Love this track. Always thought it was album only until Les at King Bee advised me otherwise. Didn't know the 45 was a live version so thanks, i'll probably stop hunting it down now and stick with the album! Money saved
Geoff Posted December 10, 2008 Author Posted December 10, 2008 Thanks for the information. What is the album title please, and approximate price?

Geoff Posted December 10, 2008 Author Posted December 10, 2008 You can also find it on the UK album "warm and soulful" U.A. That´s the one i have, also incl. looking for you, prove it to me... great album! Thorsten Oh dear, collapse of stout party. I've got the Warm & Soulful LP, just haven't played it since I don't know when. My one doesn't include Looking For You or Prove It To Me though. The number is EG 2602921 and its title is Warm & Soulful The Best of Garnet Mimms. Date is 1984, so it's either a compilation or re-issue. Tracks are: Side 1 - Cry Baby; For Your Precious Love; Baby Don't You Weep; Tell Me Baby; A Quiet Place; One Girl; Look Away; A Little Piece Of Soap. Side 2 - It Was Easier To Hurt Her; That Goes To Show You; I'll Take Good Care Of You; More Than A Miracle; As Long As I Have You; It's Just A Matter Of Time; It's Been Such A Long Way Home; My Baby. Would I get a hand on my shoulder from the Soul Police if I played As Long As I Have You off this LP? Some people get so exercised by this. Am I the only person on here who doesn't know what records they've got? I do feel a bit of a twit. Not for the first time in my life though.

Guest Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 (edited) This is interesting, my copy is on Liberty. Therefore must be a re-issue. just dug mine out (the one in youtube vid) and it has exactly same track listing, EG2602921, 1984 - the only difference to yours is that it is on Stateside. perhaps someone with knowledge can enlighten us? as a matter of interest (or not), looking for you & prove it to me can also be found on the 'Charley - Roll with the punches' LP. Will try and get a sound clip out but need to do it through a friend as I aint got the technology here.

Is available on UK 45, but as stated above is a kind of live version. Personally I won't bother with it. The easiest way to get is the LP. If you really want it on 45 you can get it on French United Artists, with 'A Little Bit Of Soap' on the otherside. Its the 'proper' version and on thick good quality vinyl. I've had one for about 5 years............took me at least 5 years to find one though and never seen one for sale since!!! Great record, I spin it from time to time. Good luck with finding the 45 if you really want one. Cheers Mark
