if they bought it because they like it and can afford and are willing to pay the pennies then end of, no rip off.

Been telling you he had loads for ages now. He should be honest and say I got 100 copies or whatever he has. Instead he's doing the old milk em off one at a time job. As they say there's one born every minute.

Been told by a dealer that the guy has (Had?) 60. Which means that there are probably a couple of hundred floating around in peoples collections, so still quite rare. I paid £400 for mine a few months back from a collector in the uk I think that was a fare price.

Every weekend I hear many from this site out and about talking up great finds of the past or dreaming of the future big one !!!!. If any one of you found a box full of a £500+ record are you trying to tell me you would tell the world so you struggle to sell them for £100 or less, get out of here.

It's a great record it will always sell at what the market values it at, that's 'a in total veiw', not one individuals veiw. Some of the people have read the several threads on here on the subject or heard chat about it at venues and have still decided to bid, their choice and their action makes up part of the current market value.

Well actually Dave I think I would. It's one thing having two, three, four or even five copies of a record, quite another to have 50-100. I think the seller himself is losing his credibility by drip feeding them out in this way looking at the posts on this thread. Steve

What credibility, he needs none or I would thinks wants any with us, and if he has lost all of it why do guys in the UK still buy the record, some with full knowledge. Yes some are fully aware he has a shed load and have bought from him in the last few weeks cuz they want the record.

agree with most of you apart the highlighted. in theory, the market price is the result of supply and demand. yet the supply (i.e. number of copies seller really has) is not really clear, therefore I'd say it's not the real market price people are paying, they're paying too much.

But the reason people are still buying is because they want the record and are not prepared to take the risk of there only being 50 copies, and all sold before the price drops considerably, so they buy at above what should be the real market price. Therefore because market demand is still dictating the price, I'm afraid you have to conclude that the price being paid is the real market price.

You're right if the number of copies are not really known, but I thought it's confirmed that the guy found exactly 100 copies?

Furthermore not every Ebay Northern soul buyer is on Soul Source so the fact that many copies have turned up may not be known to everybody placing a bid on one of the Four Tracks?

The soul scene in the main is a small world, word gets around, the situation with this disc is fairly well known and still people bib. Last week there were four for sale and still people bid. We all like to get good discs at the best price, but this is a bit like the current financial climate, we can talk this down or we can talk this up.

It's a great disc and now many people how thought they would never own it have a copy.

I actually think the guy has been pretty genuine, when he put the first batch of different records up on ebay, he started them all at 9.99 because he had no idea what he had. He clearly stated he had bought up the stock of a closed record shop.

Now, if we had formed an orderly queue and been gentlemanly about it we could have had them for about $50 each.

But the desire to own this record and in some cases the desire to make money ensured the first copy went for at least a couple of thou' and the seller being bombarded with emails asking if he had any more and how much. It was quickly clear that he had at least a boxfull, just not how big his box was. He seems to have run out of "The Fabulous Apollos - Some Good In Everything Bad" and most of the Ric-Tic stuff.

Good luck to him, he took the risk on a closed shop's stiock and has been lucky. I just hope he doesn't run out before one of my snipe bids actually gets one.

At the end of the day there will still only be 150 copies of this 45 in existence and they will soon get swallowed up in collections around the world....... the price on this 45 will still stay high IMHO..... If a vg+ one comes up on eBay in 18 months time it will be $1000.00 plus I would guess.

dunno why folk want to have a pop at the seller, it's not his fault people still bid so high for the record.....the buyers are dictating the prices not the seller. Everyone knows he has quantity of the record and it's not a case of him saying last one.....ok this is definately the last one
