Jumpinjoan Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Four Voices - Your Love is Getting Stronger / With A Lonely Heart - Voice Chuck Holiday - Just Can't Trust Nobody / I still Love You - Gloria I know you are all well aware that both of these records have the same backing track but different vocals on both sides. But does anyone have any knowledge? Would love to know how it came about. Without doubt four incredible sides!! Incredibly close, but if I had to choose out of the 'a' sides I'd have to pick Chuck Holiday. One of my most favourite lines in a record ever... "that low down dirty dog just stole my woman" B side has to be the Four Voices.

Do agree with you on your B side choice, but i have allways loved the top side over CH. But i do love good one liner's, as in Chuck's track. One of my faves is "I'm three times happyer, than the law allows me to be" ---------- SAM by the way how did that 45 go down ?

Dave Thorley Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 (edited) Hi Guys Chuck Holiday was written and produced by one of the Four Voices that had 50/50 rights to with Popcorn Wylie. As you will see on the FV credits Popcorn is one of the writers. When they wanted to do the CH version, Popcorn waved his rights to the song so they could record it. I may well be putting it legally out on a nice US pressing, but want to see how the sales of the Rotations goes first, which we will release in Feburary. In the current climate need to see how the first sells. But we have a deal to put out both Chuck Holiday and The Four Voices if we wish. Think the Chuck Holiday will sell well, but not so sure about FV, as you can get the re-issue fairly cheap. Anyones feed back would be welcome. Dave Edited December 5, 2008 by Dave Thorley
Steve G Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Chuck H would be the better seller in my opinion Dave. It's played much less.
Dave Moore Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Chuck H would be the better seller in my opinion Dave. It's played much less. I'd buy one anyway. #6 on my wants list and it's been there a while!!

Dave Dave I thought the Chuck Holiday was also available on some reissue from about 5 or more years ago, think it was only the A side though (Hayleys??) A nice A/B pairing would be great though, much better than a "Tommy and the Derbys backed with the Snake" kind of thing. Hope you do it, I'll buy one (Chuck Holiday, not the Snake) Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
