I'm loving this record...anyone give me a little more information on it? Is there really only an acetate of it? How many of them are knocking about??

Thanks in advance :D

The soundfile off the Eccentric Soul comp would suggest an acetate or at least a very rare record as its utterly muffed and their standards are high throughout the series.

Excellent ASBO-soul

Yes, only one original CRITERIA acetate exists as far as I know, and it's in bad shape. I don't know who owns it, but it is pictured in the booklet to the Eccentric Soul "Deep City" CD. An absolutely fantastic stomping track way up there with the best as far as messy northern goes in my opinion.

they borrowed the acetate from clarence reid from the comp and it was totally messed up, like the metal was about to flake off of it and the guy doing mastering worked miracles. the flip was a really nice sweet soul cover of a clarence reid and the delmiros doowop track.

Great info! I'm so glad that they managed to rescue it.

There's an unissued tune on their second "Deep City" compilation by Snoopy Dean called "Your Love Won't Let Me Leave You", it's very similar to "Darling I'll Go" and also taken from what sounds like a scruffy acetate.

Great info guys...condition aside you're right...it just has this sound like it's been recorded in someones garage...very loose but fantastically put together

yes, same group as on brent / deep city who also later recorded as the prolifics

On the Brent single "One little dance", has anyone noticed the bad piano break?.Surely it was sabotage?.No-one can play like that deliberatley :boxing: .Nice track apart from that.

The Moovers certainly didn't seem to have any recording luck.

If anyone knows the story behind the piano sabotage, you'll be forever known as the Anorak Overlord. :D .

Has anyone got their 45 on DRIVE for sale? Wouldn't mind a copy.

they have two 45s on drive, I think it's the same number but with two flips. I have the more common one, it's a straight temptations "wish it would rain" ripoff. They actually are the same group as on avco despite it not being listed that way in the soul harmony singles book, Jeff Lemlich posted the info somewhere once.

Both these tracks are on my Most Played list on my iPod, they're ridiculous.

Seb is IDNNH by the Moovers the same song as the Johnny K Killens b-side? I've listed that one as a want here a while ago

if anyone has the first press of "one little dance" on deep city for sale, please!!!!

Probably should've kept my mouth shut...:D But yes, it is. It has got the same backing track if I remember correctly, but obviously with group vocals instead of solo vocal from Johnny K. Wouldn't mind a copy of the Johnny K Killens 45 as well, it's the better version if I had to choose.
