The male backup singers are the Four Tops who are singing along with the Andantes.

No Vandellas on the song at all !

Wow, didn't know that.

Did hear that The Andantes were on a lot of the recordings though,

but no Vandellas.

An Amazing record, always been a favorite.

I've just listened to Martha & the Vandellas "My baby loves me" - what a gem. Does anyone know who the male backing vocalists were?

Nick

And I've heard that the backups on " Ask the Lonely" is Martha and the Vandellas

It is one of those records, that for a few $ or £ it delivers a Sound worth much, much more.

All Originals & are out there & they don't break the Bank, can't go wrong. Tremendous Record.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I guess I should have spotted it was the Four Tops - who else could sound so good? Talking of other versions, Jean Carn did a goodie, and Barbara Mason's version on the recent Philly meets Motown CD was tasty too. If you like an instrumental, try David T Walker.

I like this song a lot!

Martha's finest moment on vinyl IMO. I'll never part with it anyway.
