Think it was Dave Brown who put out the Benn-X 45's about 10 years ago. Posted both takes in refosoul in the past.

Md Records Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Just a hypothetical question here, and i'm sure that this scenario would never apply to a goldmine product, but what quantity of a test pressing does there have to be, before it is deemed a release, I mean 500 test pressings could be construed as a little over the top! Frank Bendinelli, who owns the "Timmy & Persionettes" and "Ann Byers" tracks hasn't been paid for vinyl releases of these tracks, only the C.D. releases, but as we said, in fairness to Goldmine, I presume they only manufactured a small amount of each title, prior to officially releasing the tracks on either their "Sevens" or "Connoisseurs" imprints. Oh, by the way - I do have copies of both the "Timmy & Persianettes" and "Ann Byers" test pressings available for £10 each, including post & packing. Des Parker
steve Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 I've got the Ann Robinson track at home, I'll give you more information later when i finish work Steve The label is white with the Goldmine/soul supply logo and has No: Title: Artist: but these are not filled in on either side, in the run out groove it says 'Harth 1A D Amont 'and a back to front 5 or could be a 2. run out groove on the flip side is just the same but has 'Harth 1B'.. These are scatched on not stamped not sure if this is the information you were after or not Hope this helps Got it from the soul nights at Cadburys about 3 or 4 years ago, paid £20 for it, don't know the price of it now or how many were cut Steve
Simon T Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Ann Robinson - World Of Happiness b/w Instrumental Hasn't the Ann Robinson release been 'chopped up' so that the verses are in a bit of a different order to those on Butch's & Andy Rix's studio acetates?

The UK Harthon release was done by Goldmine and IMO, is a bootleg.

Md Records Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 The "Benn X" release is 100% legal, a collaboration between Frank Bendinelli and Dave Brown, of "Philly Archives". According to Frank, Goldmine never paid for putting his stuff out on "45's" but as stated earlier in this thread, these are "Test Pressings" and not releases. As said earlier, what quantity of "Test Pressings" qualifies it as a release. Des Parker

Des Parker In the UK during the 60s anything below 100 copies weren't subject to royalties payments, as they were classed as Promotional. Blue Horizons early releases were limited to 99 copies for this very reason...
Simon T Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Looking for any/all info on three Goldmine test press 45s: Timmy & Empires - Got No Time b/w Timmy & Persianettes - I Want My Lovin From You Cheers, Adam. If my memory serves me right, this release of 'got no time' is the same as the Impact studio acetate that Carl Fortnum has/had. The mix on the CD is less Spartan, more instrumentation, guitar etc?
