Steve G Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 What is going on with the Storm on Ebay? - bidding seems to have gone very high between a 0 feedbacker, and a "private" bod all of a sudden. Ebay no is 4720985110
Gasher Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 I dont know but i wanted it..and it went way over my bid by $800 the gasher
Steve G Posted April 25, 2005 Author Posted April 25, 2005 I dont know but i wanted it..and it went way over my bid by $800 the gasher link Well you would probably have got it Gash, cos I wasn't going much over $500, but for these slightly "weird" private and new bidders desperate to outdo each other.
TheBigO Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Are they French Steve? Taffy and I have noticed a strange thing going on between french bidders recently, silly money being bid and they never pay! Some weird f***ed up NF Nazi shite?????
Gasher Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 anybody want to sell me one at a real price?? the gasher Well you would probably have got it Gash, cos I wasn't going much over $500, but for these slightly "weird" private and new bidders desperate to outdo each other. link

Taffy and I have noticed a strange thing going on between french bidders recently, silly money being bid and they never pay! Some weird f***ed up NF Nazi shite????? link Must admit didn't bother looking at where they were based, just surprised that they were so desperate to outbid each other - if right wing extremists from France they may have thought they were bidding in "French Francs" rather than dollars possibly

Guest wrighty Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 anybody want to sell me one at a real price?? the gasher link does it ever come up for sale?

Taffy and I have noticed a strange thing going on between french bidders recently, silly money being bid and they never pay! Some weird f***ed up NF Nazi shite????? link I was offering a £1000 around for a copy about this time last year, nobody would sell me a one, so I think Wrighty did ok. If I hadn't been spending so much on 6ts recently I'd have slapped that on this copy. Blinding record!!!!!!

I am well behind with current prices yet again.
Sunnysoul Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Why all the fuss ! Sorry guys , I'm big modern soul fan but this Storm 45 represents the worst in dirge like mechanical funk , leaves me absolutely cold. Why would you wanna pay more than a fiver for this I have no idea !
TheBigO Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 I cant understand why this is going for this sort of money, or many things at the moment for that matter! I brought this, along with friends locally, when it came out from Anderson for a £5, alongside Timeless Legend etc and to see what people are paying for them just makes me think the world is really a crazy place!!! That said, I wish I hadn't sold everything to Mr Brown in 1990 now

That's now worth £1500 a bottle. You're a buffoon if you live in the past. "Back in the day" and all that tosh. Pah! Edited April 26, 2005 by James Trouble

I have my dads 'old spice' from '76 in the bathroom cabinet still. Shane
Guest James Trouble Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 are any other bottles of classic aftershave going for big money? I have my dads 'old spice' from '76 in the bathroom cabinet still. Shane link How full is the bottle? Seriously though, what does saying "i paid £5 for this as a new release" show? I was 2 years old when Timeless Legend came out, if I had been able to buy it as a new release I would have. Actually in hindsight, if I had have had £5 in 1980 and was able to walk and change my own nappy I would have purchased two bottles of Domaine Romane Conti for my five pound sold them both this year for £1500 each, spent £800 on a Timeless Legend, £1000 on a storm and gone on holiday in the south of France with the left over change. Who's the smart one now? "Back in the Day", "I remember that on Soul Bowl for £5", "used to be a soul pack record" etc etc. PAH!!!!!!!!
Steve G Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 That said, I wish I hadn't sold everything to Mr Brown in 1990 now link This could rank as the worst financial "gaff" you've ever made mate - the clothes, wife and car fine - but the records? the house? Surely that would have appreciated by quite a bit in value since 1990 in that South Beds "Hot spot" where you reside - joking aside very easy for me to say that with heinseight.

'I paid 1.25 for it as a new release etc etc. The first few copies of Storm (which was played at Clifton Hall and Cleethorpes as well as by Sam and Arthur but never took off) that John Anderson sold to dj's were £15. I know because of the list of records my dear ex wife used in evidence on the financial side of our divorce included it (the cow had been through my cheque books). She told the judge I cared more about Soul Music and Sheffield United than I did her. I told the judge I thought more of Sheffield Wednesday than I did of her. But seriously, I can't remember Storm being as cheap as a fiver and Timeless Legend, if my memory serves me correctly was never a cheap record. We the people, Innersection Jimmy Raye on Garrison etc were in Johns Soul Packs though Steve
Girthdevon Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Timeless Legend, if my memory serves me correctly was never a cheap record. link I bought my Timeless Legend cheap (and blind, on a recommendation) - £12 I think - early 90s from Blacknight and quite a few people I know all quote that source as where their's came from. Who else had copies as a new release ??? Girf

But prices dropped 85 onwards didn't they. Steve
Guest Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 I was thinking of going for it when it went up above $1400 but after a quick spin from Kebbie's comp I wondered why I even had an $800 max bid. Floor filler for sure but discoed out I am several thousand 12" will do that to ya. Tenyu
