Mark68
For those that used to attend the weekly modern soul sessions (Soul Sanctuary) at Jools Wine Bar, Edgware Rd I have uploaded a few mixes from 1988. Residents Simon Dunmore and Les Fisher with guests Ian Clark (sadly not much of this set was taped), Simon Murray, Ivor Jones and Gary Dennis. Check out https://www.independentmovement.co.uk/ Their sets are in the mixes section and the flyers are in the gallery. I'll also post up the London Soul Circular newsletters from the late 8ts in the near future with contributions fron Robin Salter, Chris Huggins etc Enjoy ! Fantastic times down there, a real buzz with Ian clark on absolutely top form. I remember Simon dunmore taping the Sam Dees performance at Dingwalls, I think he sung After All about 3 times. Was that the one downstairs? remember going over there a few times from Muswell Hill and stuff like The time is right and Look on your face getting plays. Quite a few of the Scots lads used to go if I remember rightly Big Jim, Speedie and Keb and others. Cheers Manus Link to comment Social source share
John Reed
IMO it was the best soul night in London at the time. Early doors with Les on the deep side..... The Xmas part night was an absolute cracker. Link to comment Social source share
