Just got this e-mail:

Dear valued eBay member:

We recently have determined that different computers have logged onto your eBay account, and multiple password failures were present before the logons. We now need you to re-confirm your account information to us. If this is not completed by April 27, 2005 we will be forced to suspend your account indefinitely, as it may have been used for fraudulent purposes. We thank you for your cooperation in this manner.

We appreciate your support and understanding, as we work together to keep eBay a safe place to trade.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.

Don'tcha wish you could get hold of the bastards who send these mails and cave their skulls in with a brick. I know I do.

I've had a few Dodge, just send them directly onto the ebay security centre. Getting spammed like mad with similar mails from all the banks/building societies too. Some poor suckers are going to fall for this shite

Know what you mean, how many variations are there on the same theme i.e. 'log on with this link and we'll take you to the fcuking cleaners'

I just hope not too many decent people ever fall for these scams.

NEVER log on to ebay when there is a link on the email.

I wonder if anyone has ever had a reply from ebay when they have reported a scam/spam link??

I know I haven't.

Jamie

Yeah, can't be bothered to report them anymore, just delete them. Ebay never email on account detail. Being in sales it's a real irritant to see an inbound email and think I wonder if that's a deal conf, only to find out it's those daft b#stards

You have to report it to spoof@ebay.com

I always get a reply, but make sure you include all the header fields in the message. I would hope ebay contact the I.S.P. and close the account down......

best not to open any dodgy e-mails,I read somewhere that if you open them and ignore them they can still put ''things'' into your computer that the firewall and virus detectors cannot stop ,all because they were opened.

I've reported these to E Bay before and always had replies.

I had my account hacked into once (pre firewall) and E Bay told me. I then sorted it out via a live chat thingy with some E Bay guy in the States who got everything up and running again in no time

I received this from Ebay, concerning an item I paid for not being delivered:

-After careful review, we have concluded our investigation of the Buyer

Complaint described below.

We have decided in your favour, however, we were unable to recover any

funds from the seller's account. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement,

recovery of funds associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed.

We will make our best effort to recover the funds in question if they

become available in the seller's account in the future. Please be assured

that we will also take appropriate action against the seller's account,

which may include limitation of the seller's account privileges.

-The seller even sent me an email extracting the urine, that ebay are powerless to do anything about it.

So when people moan about the prices paid on JMs auctions, at least allow for the fact that if you pay for an item off John, you are going to get what you paid for.

talking of giving money back

i sold a record to a guy in NY

he asked for recored delivery

it arrived in the states and got lost from

there on

i gave proof of cost to the royal mail

and proof of postage and got 4 dollars 70cents postage

on signed for delivery

Ebay actually stopped me using my account until i repaid the guy

The item has since been i believe delivered but not signed for

so it cost me 75.00 dollars

and the original cost of the record

for a lot of hastle

EBAY huh
