Guest thenogger Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I have just had the pleasure of listening to the album by the late great SOUL GODDESS " TY KARIM " and what an incredible album. I personally think it is the best album i have heard for a long, long time. I normally play any album once then put it away but this album up to now i have played it about 10 times since TUESDAY 9th DEC and it is only the 13th now. What a great soulful XMAS present, it blew me away totally AWESOME. REGARDS TO ALL. " thenogger "
Ian Dewhirst Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) Well Christmas came slightly early this year so I treated myself to a copy of the "The Complete Ty Karim: Los Angeles Soul Goddess". A blinding release and obviously should be in every fanatical Soul fans collection! Full marks to Ady and the Ace/Kent team for the Soul release of the year IMO! Just one slightly perturbing issue surfaced however............. As I was listening to the mighty impressive lungs of Ms Karim, I thought I'd take a closer look at her. So I looked @ the cover and couldn't help noticing the interesting placement of her left boob. Is it really that high up? Or was she bunching it up with the strategic positioning of her left arm? And where's her right one? Questions, questions........ Hell of a lung on her anyway! Essential purchase! Also, many thanks and the highest regards to Mark Bicknell for hosting one of Starpoint Radio's most-listened to shows - The Soul Shack. Great stuff Mark, we'll miss you on Sundays and best for the future! Ian D Edited December 20, 2008 by Ian Dewhirst

Malc Burton It was a valid question Malc. We know she's a Los Angeles Soul Goddess with at least one well-rounded and extremely highly-hitched left boob which she very skilfully framed with arrangement of her left arm and hand. Prophonics 2029 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 What a great photo for the cover, has this been used before for an LP??
Ady Croasdell Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 What a great photo for the cover, has this been used before for an LP?? No it's straight out of Karime's private collection. If Foggy comes down to the 100 Club tomorrow, he'd better watch out for a slap from a doting daughter: and Winston won't help him!

Ady Croasdell Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 That play might get you off the hook. I'll bring a wet paper bag down for Mike to handle.

Might do but debatable now I've listened to it again LOL! Pretty funny though and a GREAT plug plus I'll apologise on my bended knees to our favorite Los Angeles Soul Goddess......we're not worthy, we're not worthy etc, etc Actually, this sounds like fun. Ty Karim @ the 100 Club on 23rd December. Does it get any better? It must be Xmas or something................? Ian D
Will Macc Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Been listening to this all afternoon - totally brilliant, one of the CDs of the year. Nice one Ady.
scunnyjack Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Been listening to this all afternoon - totally brilliant, one of the CDs of the year. Nice one Ady. Totally agree and thanks also to Mark Bicknell and others on this topic for bringing to my attention the sheer quality of the album. Many standout tracks but the slower Lighten Up, Ain't That Love Enough,All At Once, All In Vain, Keep On Doin' Watcha' Doin' and both versions of Wear Your Natural Baby are my faves. Steve

Steve Glad you like it Steve, the slow original version of Wear Your Natural will be on the Modern Masterpieces Vol 2 CD in late Jan. It's the same pace as the demo but the original 45 performance.
Maria O Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 It's absolutely simply ...wonderful. I fear Ty may become my favorite soulstress if I listen to it any more. But I'll chance it m
