Guest inspirations001 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Got to agree 100% 1978 to 1981 was a very rich musical period for RS and the saturday nite regulars, the only downside was having to drop tombstones.... . Regulars from Clitheroe, Skipton, Accrington, Derby, Blackburn, Burnley and Tim Casey from Settle........but what about those friday nites....warming up at the Spinning Jenny in Accrington Nick. think i remember tim casey, wasn't he at uni at the time, prob knocked about with the burnley lot, winnie, sue, jacqui green, mick etc.
Guest inspirations001 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Nowere like it loads frm bolton and manchester there started goin in 77 with pat and elaine cluxton steve livesy and the horwich boys gazo hans carl dave molloy from farnworth, shirley and fran from stockport, lee sean and the heywood crew knew duncan john frosty frm rochdale salty and pete from prestwich good days,to easily dismissed by some and searling the best in those years that there has ever been or ever will be. i have fond memories of pat, mark and elaine, along with all the others from that crew, pete and diane, mick, fran and shirley, and gaynor from stoclkport. pat and i used to take a record box, filled with cans and build a pyramid of empties on the table, happy days, i think! and don't mention the loony hull crowd!

It all got a bit confusing as you were hear different dee-jays playing the same track at a venue but with a different cover up name. I did after many years get a copy of "Nightime Shadows" TSOB (I put TSOP earlier - mad moment) on 45. For years I didn't know what it was and then Martin Maylor reckoned that Crumb from Stoke had bought it from Richard who had got it off Sam towards the end of Wigan. After a crazy weekend we travelled miles to see Crumb and I was willing to offer a tidy sum for what was one of my top wants. Walked in spoke to Crumb, who said "haven't got a clue what you are talking about and never heard of the record. The things you do to get that elusive track! Mark no mate, lost contact after wigan(as you do!). would love to see her again prob got more tattoos now! a mate of mine saw carol at a weekender somewhere, will try get any contact info if he has it. both nice lasses, would be nice to see em but no-one travels to any ONE venue like we did back then if u get my drift.
munchkinette Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 and ive heard a lot of people saying the good days at wigan had gone by 77, i can`t comment on that as i wasn`t there, and of course it must have been one hell of a time listening to some of the earlier stuff for the first time, but as ive posted earlier how anyone can say the casino died after 77 with a list of records like that is beyond me, and thats just richards playlist, weve not mentioned pats, gary rushbrook etc of course this is just an opinion and each to there own of course Agree with you there Harry, I've found that most peeps that say the casino was shit after that date were the peeps that had stopped going anyway and started having kids etc so how they can comment is beyond me, there's a few couples from our way that always say that there a bit older than me and Kev but my answer is always the same if you wern't there how would you know. I started going in 1978 and I loved every minute of it and as you say with the play lists mentioned it certainly wasn't dead imo of course. Sharon
Guest Nick Harrison Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) What a great playlist as detailed above....was a big Pat Brady follower as Pat was our local DJ. It would be great if Mark Freeman could put up some of Pat's list from back then, as I seem to recall Mark having a better knowledge of who played what, from his C90 tape collection. Here's a few off the top of me head. The Chandlers - Your Love Makes Me Lonely (Col Soul) Jimmy Burns - I Really Love You (Erica 2) John Bowie - Youre Gonna Miss A Good Thing Baby (Merben) J T Brown - Like Taking Candy (Mahogany) Carol Anderson - Sad Girl (Fee) Jimmy McFarland - Lonely Lover (RPR).......anyone available to post up a sound file of this - please. Keep um coming chaps..... . Thanks Nick. Robin - how's the memory ....still awaiting your knowledge and input on this thread, should be interesting. Edited December 4, 2008 by Nick Harrison

Guest Nick Harrison Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 think i remember tim casey, wasn't he at uni at the time, prob knocked about with the burnley lot, winnie, sue, jacqui green, mick etc. Sorry just backtracking and noticed this posting - that is correct Inspirations 001 .......also knocked around with Panny, Little Lee (R I P), Webby and Barney from Clitheroe. Big Dave Thomas (Jolly or Green giant) and the Derby lads also. Thanks for the feedback and details on the few tracks I listed. Regards, Nick.
Jez Jones Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 used to be a major barb freak, remember once getting him off the train at crewe.. got a call in the week, he had spent the night in a field, those were the days If this is the same guy then he's progressed from barbs . Some folks say he's a 'baghead' now and looks really bad. Showing me age but I used to hang around with his dad and a few others 1970ish. His dad Oscar was a big 'wheel' boy and possibly(allegedly) was not adverse to the odd chemical inducement himself
