and ive heard a lot of people saying the good days at wigan had gone by 77, i can`t comment on that as i wasn`t there, and of course it must have been one hell of a time listening to some of the earlier stuff for the first time, but as ive posted earlier how anyone can say the casino died after 77 with a list of records like that is beyond me, and thats just richards playlist, weve not mentioned pats, gary rushbrook etc of course this is just an opinion and each to there own of course

Got to agree 100% 1978 to 1981 was a very rich musical period for RS and the saturday nite regulars, the only downside was having to drop tombstones.... ohmy.gif .

Regulars from Clitheroe, Skipton, Accrington, Derby, Blackburn, Burnley and Tim Casey from Settle........but what about those friday nites....warming up at the Spinning Jenny in Accrington

Nick.

think i remember tim casey, wasn't he at uni at the time, prob knocked about with the burnley lot, winnie, sue, jacqui green, mick etc.

You being serious about him being an Elvis impersonator? I remember him coming to a Clouds allnighter and Bruce paid him at least partly in bottles of something strong (whisky?) and he proceed to work his way through it during the all-nighter, even worse he was djing towards the end. I didnt really know him as I was just a young lad but he seemed a real rum lad and always spoke, he always said Clouds Edinburgh was his favourite place. Good to hear he is still around.

It all got a bit confusing as you were hear different dee-jays playing the same track at a venue but with a different cover up name.

I did after many years get a copy of "Nightime Shadows" TSOB (I put TSOP earlier - mad moment) on 45.

For years I didn't know what it was and then Martin Maylor reckoned that Crumb from Stoke had bought it from Richard who had got it off Sam towards the end of Wigan.

After a crazy weekend we travelled miles to see Crumb and I was willing to offer a tidy sum for what was one of my top wants. Walked in spoke to Crumb, who said "haven't got a clue what you are talking about and never heard of the record.

The things you do to get that elusive track!

Do you know what happened to either Carol or Bridget.

and ive heard a lot of people saying the good days at wigan had gone by 77, i can`t comment on that as i wasn`t there, and of course it must have been one hell of a time listening to some of the earlier stuff for the first time, but as ive posted earlier how anyone can say the casino died after 77 with a list of records like that is beyond me, and thats just richards playlist, weve not mentioned pats, gary rushbrook etc of course this is just an opinion and each to there own of course

Agree with you there Harry, I've found that most peeps that say the casino was shit after that date were the peeps that had stopped going anyway and started having kids etc so how they can comment is beyond me, there's a few couples from our way that always say that there a bit older than me and Kev but my answer is always the same if you wern't there how would you know.

I started going in 1978 and I loved every minute of it and as you say with the play lists mentioned it certainly wasn't dead imo of course.

What a great playlist as detailed above....was a big Pat Brady follower as Pat was our local DJ.

It would be great if Mark Freeman could put up some of Pat's list from back then, as I seem to recall Mark having a better knowledge of who played what, from his C90 tape collection. yes.gif

Here's a few off the top of me head.

The Chandlers - Your Love Makes Me Lonely (Col Soul)

Jimmy Burns - I Really Love You (Erica 2)

John Bowie - Youre Gonna Miss A Good Thing Baby (Merben)

J T Brown - Like Taking Candy (Mahogany)

Carol Anderson - Sad Girl (Fee)

Jimmy McFarland - Lonely Lover (RPR).......anyone available to post up a sound file of this - please.

Keep um coming chaps..... .

Thanks

Nick.

Robin - how's the memory ....still awaiting your knowledge and input on this thread, should be interesting. :D

used to be a major barb freak, remember once getting him off the train at crewe.. got a call in the week, he had spent the night in a field, those were the days :(

If this is the same guy then he's progressed from barbs ohmy.gif . Some folks say he's a 'baghead' now and looks really bad.

Showing me age but I used to hang around with his dad and a few others 1970ish. His dad Oscar was a big 'wheel' boy and possibly(allegedly) was not adverse to the odd chemical inducement himself sad.gif
