Rob Wigley Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Hey guys, I know I posted this as an inclusion in the 100th edition of Manifesto but deadlines were tight. Mike is keen to put it in though. From previous posts, I got the top 49. If you could spare the time, please post the remainder (51 plus) of your favourite tunes, artist, title, label, name and area, and ideally not in Kev's top 500 book, so that we may get a wider scope of what people want and like, across the scene. Again, there is some urgency so don't delay, post today!!! Just pasted this from Steve off another thread, which is whats he's after on here, avoid anything thats in the Top 500 book if posible. I think most knew what he was after so keep them coming some great tune listed on both threads (links above) Steve does loads of writing for mike at manifesto, so its time we all helped him out a bit ! rob

Soulman Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 Bloody Hell. I spend one night decorating and a day at work and it seems as though we finally hit target. All I wanted was personal favourites of tunes not heard for a while, unknowns or not included in Kev's book to A. show that there are more records to be plkayed at venues rather than the same old, same old, and B. to get a more across the board idea of who likes what and where... if that makes sense! The first 50 from the original thread are as follows: Joe Simon "Long Hot Summer" SS7 (Matt Male - Nuneaton)Tommy & The Derbys "Don't Play That Role" (Jocko - Edinburgh)Just Brothers "Go On And Laugh" ActeateVenyetta Royster "The Comfort Of Your Arms" Soul Intention (Ian Dewhirst - London)Jimmy Raye "I Just Can't Take No More" KKCMajor Lance "Don't You Know I Love You" Contempo (Kenny C - Edinburgh)Alex Brown "Love Really Hurts Without You" Roxbury (Matthew Wallace - Peterborough)Jeffery Allen "Dilly Dilly" Mala (Mossy - North Wales)Originals "Suspicion" Unreleased (Dave Moore - Mojacar, Spain)Originals "Ain't No Sun Since You've Been Gone" Gordy Ann Sexton "I Still Love You" Seventy Seven (Andy Simpson - Bedford)Carl Holmes & The Commanders "Soul Dance #3" Hit Blackjack (Adam Topping - Coventry)Terry Callier "Ordinary Joe" Cadet (Mike Gibbs - South Wales)Alvin Cash & The Registers "No Deposit, No Return" Mar V Lus (Joe Lawrence - Sussex)Parliaments "Rainy Day" Cabell (Joan Livesey - Preston)Delona Washington "Getting Mighty Close" Lovelite (Paul - Cambs)Bob & Gene "I've Got To Find A Way" ModoMary Sneed "When I Was 15" Capitol (Steve Eckersley - Aberdeen, just North of Watford as he put it)Celeste Hardie "You're Gone" Reynolds (Chris O'Donnell - Gateshead)Marlena Shaw "Looking Thru The Eyes Of Love" Cadet Barabara St Clair "Teacherman" Crosseyed Bear (Geoff - London)Georgis Prophets "Don't You Think It's Time" Capricorn (Molly - Bedford)Juan Williams "I Check My Mailbox Everyday" Blue Soul (Pete Lyster - Bridgwater)Revells "I Want A New Love" Trent Town (Jon Downs - Essex)Daisy Burris "Four Strong Winds" DeesuJJ Barnes "Get A Hold Of Yourself" Mickays (Andy Dennison - Musselburgh)Leon Peterson "Now You're On Your Own" Skylark (G Farrington - Southport)Otis Lee "Hard Row To Hoe" Quaint (Gerd - Duessldorf, Germany)Little Archie "All I Have To Do" Dial (Matt Male - Nuneaton)Tiny Topsy "Cha Cha Sue" Federal (Prophonics - London)Ruby Winters "Like A Yo-Yo" Diamond (Jules - North Warks)Roscoe Shelton "Running For My Life" SS7 (Rasfoz - Great Yarmouth)Rhonda Davis "Can You Remember" Duke (Steve G - Cheshunt)Jimmie Ellis "Happy To Be (The Man You Like To See) Century City (Mike H - Southend)Voice Masters "If A woman Catches A Fool" Bamboo (Adam D - Chippenham)Harold Andrews "Since I Talk To My Baby" HLS (Dave M - Mojacar, Spain)Astors "More Power To You" Stax (Nige Brown - Stafford)Masqueraders "How Big is Big" Bell (Rob Wigley - Worksop)Mike Post Coalition "Afternoon Of The Rhino" Warner Brothers (Ivor Jones - London)Storm "Can't Nobody Love Me Like You Do" Rosette (Karen Wigley - Worksop)Esquires "How Could It Be" Bunky (Dean - Bristol)Don Hy Song "Soul Searcher" Bard (Rupert - Boston, Lincs)CL Blast "What Can I Do" United (Steve - Newbury)Tony Drake "Suddenly" Brunswick (John - Wirral)Brothers Of Soul "I'd Be Grateful" Boo (Mick Howard - Manchester)Traditions "My Life With You" Barclay (Toby - Letchworth)Hesitations "Is This The Way To Treat A Girl" GWP (Steve - Carlisle)Melvyn Davis "Just As Long" Invictus ( Kev Moore -London)Bobby Hutton "It's All Been Said Before" ABC (Ian Dewhirst - London)?

Professorturnups Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Dunno, that was my question!.... how can you ever want to get away from that record!! My other current fav is a cover up I think. I dont know much about it. I just know it as Ring the Changes by The Paradox... Does this mean anything to anyone else?.. Thanks Jayne. Hi, I first heard this record years ago and it was credited to The Paradox then so unlikely it is a cover up? Played a while back at Middleton and at the time someone said they had heard The Paradox were actually a British group from up your way, Jayne. Don't know how true this is. Mark C
Soulman Posted November 25, 2008 Author Posted November 25, 2008 Thanks for all your input. For those who don'y buy Manifesto, here is the final 100 entries including about 50% from Chalky!!! Cheers matey :-) This will be included in the Xmas edition of the mag and may feature a couple of last minute ammendments... I said may. It could quite easily stay the same unless there is a final influx of entries. Thanks again for your time and effort.
