Hi guys.

Let's say you posted up a sale on here and someone pm'd you saying they wanted to buy it.

You pm'd them back saying they could have it.

What do you think is a reasonable length of time to wait for payment before selling the record to someone else?

Normally I'd say 7 days, but with the recent credit crunch I've noticed paying up isn't always as easy as it used to be. Also depends on whether the buyer is known as not being a timewaster, or has a good reason not to pay immediately.

You wouldn't sell it to someone else if it had been just one day then?

Nope. First one who pms me always gets first chance to pay, up to 7 days after the initial pm. If you're not doing it like this this can get a bit messy with e.g. 2 people paying for the record at about the same time...and who's the one that gets the record then?

Wed pm: I pm'd the guy about the record..

He pm'd me back saying it was mine.

I logged onto paypal to pay him but noticed he had not given me his full email address.

I emailed him back asking for the correct email.

Five minutes later we got a phone call and had to rush to the hospital.

Friday am was the first chance I had to log on here and there was a pm from him saying he had sold the record to someone else.

That is very impatient Joan. When I have sold stuff on here I have always waited a few days at least if somebody has reserved something. Even (stupidly) in the past at the risk at not ending up selling it to anybody cos I waited two weeks for a timewaster. Generally if I'm selling owt it's because I need the money and I'm sure that's the same for most people but you have to give people at least a few days reasonably I think

My point exactly... If you're running your business like this you're bound to end up with unsatisfied soulies sooner or later. Ok it also ain't nice to hear someone else showed interest earlier and you're 'second in line', but at least you know where you are then.

I wouldn't say inpatient like Reg is....

I'd suggest he had an enquiry with a bigger offer than the sale price.... no other reason to move it on so quickly after agreeing with you Joan IMO....

It's not the first time I've heard of this sort of thing on here....

"Money Talks" as they say....

Hi Joan,

I've been holding a copy of Honey & the bees on Academy since I put it on a sales list on soul source on 20th October. When I asked the person that contacted me saying he wanted it how long they needed to pay for the record, I got the following reply (on 20th Oct) "Hi Ady, seven to ten days only, paypal so you`ld have it straight away"

So, he sent me a paypal payment on 5th November  It showed as "payment pending" up until yesterday, when paypal informed me the payment was cancelled.

So in answer to your question, I've waited patiently without moaning for 27 days.

Do you think it's now time to let the next person that really wanted it a chance to buy the record?

Regards,

Ady.
