Tommy Hunt At Wigan Casino Lp

What's the story with this LP? I can't really find much info on it, backstory, price, etc.? Was Tommy brought over to the UK to perform in Wigan frequently and recorded a live LP? Did he live in the UK? Just curious.

I heard that it was some kind of attempt to copy the success of Major Lance Live At The Torch that had ben released on Contempo and which had actually been recorded live. Tommy Hunt went into the studio to record what he sang in his Casino spot. Or one of his visits. But i dunno what if this is true. I'm sure i heard from somewhere that they couldn't record any artist live at Wigan due to the inability of the right set-up or somesuch.

From a personal viewpoint, i was at the Casino on one occasion that Tommy was live but i wouldn't know his spot as i was packed like an effing sardine in Mr Ms during his spot. Not as a dancer but on the balcony. And the highlight was some young dancer doing a spin causing her top to drop all abreast. Very nice too, and in one swift movement they were hidden from sight. Never happened like. I believe that this occurred a few times so if any ladies are reading this and happened to make this kind of faux pas during a night at the legendary venue. C'mon, don't be shy. Reveal all. Er, actually tell us what was going on and how you coped.

I heard he lived in Barnsley,ax'ed him at the Kent concert he laughed and said its worse than that i lived in Pontefract.

Tommy Hunt lived in Nab Wood --Shipley for many years with Sue(hence Dustbin Stanley covering up Sergio Mendes--"Love Music"--as Sue Hunt.The l.p was recorded live at Wigan Casino on Sept 27 th. 1975(the second anniversary). Tommy used to come in the pub i was landlord of and drink neat Bacardi! The notes on the back of the album tell us that on this night at 4.30 a.m Tommy Hunt was re-born and considered it his finest performance since he starres at the Apollo in New York in the early 60,s.!!!
