This may be well known to many, but sadly not to me and always wondered....

Whats is the reason for Minit audition copies. I've seen both audition copies and demo's of the same record, so what was their purpose other than to demo new records?

Maybe one pressing plant would have called them audition copies and another pressing plant a demonstration copy, and both mean the same. Minit used various pressing plants.

John I have been collecting the Minit Red Audition Copies for ages and must say i have never thought about why audition and demo copies, there must be a reason for this cos Imperial Records also release Audition and Demo copys...but then again both Minit and Imperial is connected to Liberty Records.

I can understand different pressing plants, but there is such a significant difference between audition copies and demos that it just seems odd that there was no real reason for them being different.
