Mace Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 Sorry yes that's the one. Would be interested to find out how many copies of this are known, seems VERY rare.... link I've had 5 copies - 3 wlp on Gladhamp (£150+), a mega rare pic sleeve on Spanish E.P.( Vegara label or similar?) which I sold Hoss, and he then sold onto Carl Willingham (£250+) Also had a copy on a U.S. reissue (Carlton label, which I believe was a limited pressing for the Rock 'n' Roll scene)...(£30) Massive tune on R&B circuit, and one that will no doubt have an impact on the Northern Scene (heard Ginger is after a copy after hearing Carl play it at Brighouse) Though no doubt will get slagged off as Rock & Roll, whilst packing the floors at Northern dos and hit a value of £400+ by this time next year...

Mace Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 (edited) Rock 'n Roll my arse! R&B down to the bone I was tipped £500 for mine as it was supposedly unissued (i.e. all Glad-Hamp copies are demos), but me and my good friend Mr. Geordie Johnson (who found our copies) both have red & white issues link Presumably all the print is red with a white label? Just rechecked mine, which is a white label with Gladhamp in red ink and all other print in black - doesn't actually say promo or such on it, so not sure if it is a promo or not (can't remember if the other copies I sold had promo on label or not) £500....bit over the top in my book, and would have thought the Spanish pic sleeve e.p. would have been rarer...maybe I sold too cheap Some-one told me it was a big tune in U.S. and gets regular airplay on Rock & Roll radio stations.....maybe this ties in with the Carlton reissue? As for Chalkys comment about it being played in Northern dos.....heard odder things take off meself...as I'm sure we all have... anyway, watch this space.... Edited April 24, 2005 by Mace

Mace Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Very true have heard odd things played but stuff like this isn't Northern and has no right to be in a Northern room I wouldn't want to be in the same venue as this record link Even if it's in a sales box...... Don't think you'd judge a venue by one such record played by one DJ to be honest Chalky. Understand your view on it not being Northern (though who these bounderies are set by I'm not to sure! ) Personally love the tune, though I am biased cuz I have a passion for decent R&B, but would prefer to hear stuff like this than played out oldies or 'disco' shite... Not a million miles of difference from the old school classics like '7 day fool', or 'Dust my broom'.....but are the latter just acceptable in Northern rooms by the fact they have established their place in the Northern Scene (rightly or wrongly)...as I said, watch this space....
