Me and the missus are waxing lyrical about 2004's releases (on the house side of things) and we are both in agrrement that it was a fine year for soulful house.

Anyway the critique I'm asking for is regarding this particular track:

Beady Belle - 'Hindsight'

https://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=v4FqsCjPU5g

We have both come to the conclusion that, for us anyhow, this was the pick of that particular year.

I understand that I am laying myself bare for criticism here but I am happy in relaying our thoughts right now in the hope that someone who hasn't heard this particular track will understand it the way we do.

It was a great period for us, I hope you enjoy it.

I'm partial to a bit of Soulful House but this doesn't really hit the mark for me. It's not a bad tune but I find it a bit bland!

I love your opening line...."Me and the missus are waxing lyrical about 2004's releases (on the house side of things)......etc"

Was there nothing on the telly?

Nothing to be criticized over, good music is good music regardless of era or style, it's in the ear of the beholder!

Agree it's a bit lightweight and IMO not a patch on things like Mena Keys 'Forever & a Day which was one of the top tunes from 2004 for me.

To be honest i have been listening to Soulfullhouse on a regular bassis and have come too enjoy some of it!!the Track posted on You tube is nice but if you notice many if not all use the same beat!I find that this beat tends to overpower some great vocals, still a lot like this format wich must be what the younger generation demand.Be nice too start a new thread for Soulfullhouse and share our fav tunes...or is there a thread allready...Gray

There has been some related threads Gary i.e. the Kenny Bobien one recently but as you can imagine on a rare soul forum the interest tends to be limited so peters out after a while.

If you'd like to share faves how about a cd swop.

pm me if interested

Can't say I've ever paid the slightest attention to this kind of stuff before.

Her vocal style is portentous indeed, just wondering what the result be if she went to Dap-Tone. :-)

Thanks for introducing my ears to something different Barry!

If all that means you are looking for an appraisal of that track, ok here goes:

Pill music!

Hope that's ok?

I also love a bit of soulful house. This is my fave, played at high volume while dancing around me coffee table!

Thanks for the opinions folks, I suppose it doesn't sit in the usual 'comfy pigeon-hole' that is deemed soulful house, on here anyway, so the mid range replies are understandable.

As for Mr. 'pill music', you just laid yourself bare for all to see mate, saved me a job too.
