soulfulmick Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Nice version. Quite rare on the Italian issue comes with picture sleeve and even rarer on demo see bri pinch's avatar.
Sebastian Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I've attached scans of the italian 45 below. Manship auctioned a copy a couple of months ago for £347.
Guest miff Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Didn't John Manship have one on his auction a couple of months ago, cant remember what it went for, but am sure it wasn't cheep

kevinsoulman Posted November 5, 2008 Author Posted November 5, 2008 is it on an LP? yeh alston 4410 1979 travelin in the circle plenty around so that looks the best bet at the mo kev
Guest Trevski Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) I really like this. Soundfile anyone please?? (Cancel that, found it on refosoul) Isn't there a 60's female vocal also??? Or one using the same backing track? Edited November 5, 2008 by Trevski
Sebastian Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 yeh alston 4410 1979 travelin in the circle plenty around so that looks the best bet at the mo kev No, that's a later version and not the same as on the italian 45. The version on the italian 45 can be found on the "...Explosion...!" LP on Alston (#4402) from 1976.
Guest Adam G Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 yeh alston 4410 1979 travelin in the circle plenty around so that looks the best bet at the mo kev The original version is actually on the 1976 Explosion lp along with the much superior "Keep Feeling" track should be able to get it for a £10. The Traveling track is a kind of medley with a version of love train Lps all the way for me more tunes for your money. Adam

Guest marco i Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Quite difficult to find here in Italy too, while other Betty Wright's singles on the same RCA Italy - Soul Explosion label are pretty common. Found the issue with picture sleeve twice, once 7 years ago - when it was not in demand - and once recently, but I never saw a demo. Marco Nice version. Quite rare on the Italian issue comes with picture sleeve and even rarer on demo see bri pinch's avatar.
Jumpinjoan Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Isn't there a 60's female vocal also??? Or one using the same backing track? Think you're thinking about Vikki Styles Trev. Same backing but completely different vocals. Awesome.
Sebastian Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Think you're thinking about Vikki Styles Trev. Same backing but completely different vocals. Awesome. Do you mean "The Tears Won't Stop Falling"? That one has got a different backing track compared to any other version of "Open The Door To Your Heart" that I've heard. But the band sure plays "OTDTYH".

A different arrangement it may be... but OTDTYH it still is.
Jumpinjoan Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 I have the record Sebastian. A different arrangement it may be... but OTDTYH it still is. Unless there is another record with OTDTYH backing with different female vocals? Then I will stand corrected.... and absolutely gagging to hear it!
Sebastian Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 A different arrangement it may be... but OTDTYH it still is. Yes, the band plays OTDTYH, but it is not the same backing track as anything else as far as I know. The reason I commented on it is because I've seen things like this cause confusion in the past on sales list "plugs" etc.

Jumpinjoan Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 No, but that's not the point I'm trying to make. Jeez... I'm confused. Doesn't take much
Sebastian Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Jeez... I'm confused. Doesn't take much I know what you mean!
Guest Trevski Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Do you know another record with OTDTYH as the backing but with a different female vocal then? I think he means it's OTDTYH, but not the same studio backing track just lifted and used for Vickki Styles, but a different arrangement of the same tune. Can you put up a soundfile Joan? would love to hear it properly.
