Thats just the saddest thing ever , my all time Soul hero gone .He was just the biggest influence on our Northern Soul listening pleasure , from The Showstoppers to Margaret Little , every record he played on or produced was touched by magic , i'm gutted beyond belief .RIP Mike . Best,Eddie

Must have been a premonition, I was blasting out "Bari Track" only an hour ago, what a genius that guy was, RIP Mike

Cant believe that buddy. Ive just listened to Bari Track not 2 mins ago and thought I,ll log on soul source and see whats going on. FECK ME, Im gutted to say the least, he to me was everything Detroit stood for. Im going to blast Bari Track again and think about the guy and how many tunes he was involved with. Mike Terry I salute you. The heavens will be hearing that burping sax tonight thats for sure.

Just playing the soundclip of Bari track, still sounds brilliant. Sad day, but what a legacy all these guys have left us.

As Eddie says a massive influence on the scene with his involvement in one capacity or other on so many great records. Like popcorn Mike is a true great and a legend.

Gilly told me the last time I saw him that Mike was unwell and things weren't looking too good

The list unfortuately just gets longer and longer....i know this may sound cringey...but records like Bari track etc...really did form a comfortable base for my troubled teenage years...records like those represented somewhere i could escape too....and for that alone...i am truly grateful...RIP...Del

Sad news. Condolances to his wife, family and friends. Wished I'd been able to meet him and shake his hand and tell him how much I have used his music to lift me through sad times and rejoice through good times. It's like losing a great and wise friend. I for one will be cracking a can tonight and toasting the maestro. His music will live on in my heart and on my record player.

Mr Terry RIP.

Very sad.

Mike was a real gentleman.

He became a Millbrand client in 2005. I'm proud to publish some of his songs in the EU.

Rest in peace.

Once again and moreso once more too often, we lose another gifted person who has enlightened us if only musically.....I truly hope there is an afterlife.....as in the next perhaps I'll have the chance to tell them all how good they really were.... or hopefully are......Keep blowing that sax Mike .....Respectfully...wilxy

Andrew "Mike" Terry. "I'll Never Forget You" (O'jays)..... They didnt come much better then this.

From Texas to Detroit. Yet another soul legend has left us. But like so many before, he left us all the more enriched for hearing his musical presence. Privaliged we are. The "Bari" lives on.

Dave told me the bad news earlier today. Gutted just like everyone else on here. I just feel very very lucky and privileged to have been able to talk to him on the phone and do interviews with him. His story in issue #4 of TTB! was a massive personal achievement for me. I was so proud putting that together.

We stayed in touch regularly after that and sometimes he would just call and check in with me. Those little phone calls were massive to me and I'll never forget them. It's a shame he never got to put out the project he was working on with Willie Jones and Fred Bridges. I would have loved to hear it.

It seriously blows my mind about how massive and impressive his CV really was. The quality was trememndous, too. So humble about it all, too. Gracious for the support and compliments, too. He's like one of the Gods to us and was so nice about it all. Really wonderful guy. I'm sure Rob Moss will agree since he got to know him quite a bit better than me.

I'm about to spin some records up in Baltimore at a soul night and you better believe I'll be celebrating his 45s loud and proud!

Rest in peace "Lil Funk"

Your friend,

Jason

I was just having a cry at the news that one of my favourite men, Studs Terkel, has died and now this. What with Levi, Popcorn, Norman Whitfield and Dee Dee all gone recently.......what a terrible year sad.gif

RIP Mr. Terry

I don't usually cry much, but I've just been welling up again reading Rob Moss's lovely tribute. I'm glad it's raining outside, it suits the occasion.
