Sorry Pete my mind reading isn't what it should be after such a heavy weekend.

So my options are its been booted or they are going to show up in quantity or the stampers have been found or its a one off and the speculation was well out??

I've no reason to believe there are bootlegs flying around or that there's been a find of them but I've been offered one from two separate sources, both in the US, there's another on Ebay. All three are Mint-. There's also at least one for sale currently in UK too. Or am I just an old cynic. Can't remember seeing four copies all up for grabs on the same day is all. Just trying prevent getting burned is all chaps.

I get suspicious when any mint copies of a title show up nowadays, because 2 weeks later another copy appears, then another etc etc

a mate of mine found I think 5 copies once, all at same time I mean, not over the years.

I get scared when you see them on Ebay then Pat Brady has a few copy's. It could be a Lester Tipton but as you say it could be more?? sad.gif

I was talking to a guy a while back and in the late 80ts 90ts turned it down at £75 thought it was over priced

Hello everyone, i'm Lester's Tipton's niece and i'm sorry I haven't been in the forum in a while but my hard drive went out and I just got it fixed.

My aunt brought me so many old records and wants me to go thru them and try to find my uncle's records. She said he did several records that she can remember and I found one record today but it's not "This Won't Change" record, the record I did find by him is called "Paradise" and it has Lester Tipton on one side and The Masqueraders on the other side.

There are so many old records it's going to take me all night to go thru them all, there are a lot of people I never heard of before and I know some of these records must be worth something. These records belonged to my uncle because he loved music and my aunt said he had a lot of these records since he was a teenager. The only thing is all the records are just 45's but they are in great condition.

I going to go thru some more and see if I can find another record by my uncle.

I think you must have found on of the "LPTs" records, funny, I never made the connection that LPT = Lester Tipton

I personally would like to know the exact amount of mint Celebreties "I Choose You" that (must) have shown up :g: ?

Marc

This is the problem Marc, I know of several big ticket records sitting with different dealers out in the states that they have quantity on, but they won't let on how many copies they have. Mind you, you can't blame them I suppose.

Bob- There is no connection. LPTs=

Labeat Production Team.

good call Dave, I'm retarded. Lester Tipton isn't actually credited on that record then, is he? He sings on that?

I'm not sure what record you're talking about- the LPTs name shows up on many LaBeat 45s.

But... if you're talking about "Long Cool Summer", the lead vocalist is Jerome Thomas.

You were right the LPT's were the in house production team at La Beat. The info can be found in the Detroit Soul Cd The La Beat Recordings. They were simply musicians who work/had worked for labels all over Detroit. Accordig to the liner notes the LTP's at various times were John Glover, William Marvin Smith, Michael Calhoun, Fred Bridges, Johnny Mills, Curtis Trusel and as you rightly say Jerome Thomas who did the vocal to Long Cool Summer.
