Are you certain it's not Lee Vowles and Sean Chambers after a particularly heavy session??

I Have a feeling that it is somewhere over to the EAST....Cambridge-Whittlesey...But Can't put a name on the DJ's....

Must say Jon, i really have enjoyed those pics from the RSG dos from the '80s etc, so many faces from the past that i remember, some as friends, some as acquaintances, some i couldn't stand  !!!! anyway, my sis Viki and I used to love the Leighton Buzzard niters cos it was only 20 minutes by train from Northampton

was quite a novelty for us, being so use to travelling a minimum of 2-3 hours to get anywhere, but having said that, it was like the Notts oddfellows Club in Leicster, another under-rated niter. I also use to enjoy the soul nights you organised at Drummonds along the Euston Road, in London again it was great having a soul night just around the corner to where i was living at the time, not to mention the 15 minute walk down to the 100 club. Del xx

Dont ever think RSG was underated, just a time when northern soul was where it should be underground, how can a place which was full most of time be underated, who doing the rating here, lot of places overated then but there attendances 20/30 at a nighter, and most of them coming from darn sarf!,look at Blackburn started by people down london, what a start packed, people from everywhere, cant say the same now!

That wasn't meant as an insult to RSG, at all, just stating that some niters didn't always get the praise they deserved in keeping the scene going when it went right back underground during the '80s and it was left to a few hardcore to keep it going. I still remember one weekend in the late 80s when there wasn't a single northern soul gig on, that's when i thought that the scene really was finished, Del x

used to go to those rsg nighters in leighton buzzard and peterboro all the time (you also gave me a lift to a nighter in sheffield in about 1987 where i think the platters were playing jon?). i remember a dog getting run over on the m1 on the way up, blood everywhere and i felt like vomming.

think the rsg nighters suffered a bit from snobbery and to be fair i don't think they were ever the most newies-orientated venues (though i do recall womack and womack's 'footsteps' being spun one night and that was certainly a newie!)

but as long as spiggy or scouse were around a good night was always had...

Is this picture real?! :wicked::D Very disturbing if it is... :D Looks like Majestics on one turntable and Don Varner on the other, or some 45's on Linda and Quinvy respectively. Please tell me it is a staged phote. :D
