Hi everyone,

I'm currently compiling an article on Tamiko Jones for Soul Up North.

If anyone has any information on this singer and if possible her current whereabouts and if she is still involved in the music scene, could you send this on to me at my email addy.. soulupnorthhfe@aol.com

any help would be appreciated (especially her time spent in the UK)

thanks.. Howard rolleyes.gif

Have you looked here?

https://www.soulwalking.co.uk/Tamiko%20Jones.html

I vaguely remember a Northern 60's recording called "The Pearl" - but I've totally forgotten the label details for the moment...

Also the disco monster "Can't Live Without Your Love" on UK/US Polydor, (big at The Rum-Runner) in late 1979.

Right, thanks. So it's not OCTOBER then (Freddie Waters), or NOVEMBER (Petals). OK.

(I was never that keen on it anyway!)

I rest my case and I can think of a particularly appealing place to rest it...

This isn't necessarily Tamiko Jones, just cos they've got the same Christian name! I have "Is it a sin" on Checker by the same artist, don't think it's Tamiko Jones though. Who knows?

I'm sure Popcorn said it was the same person (He wrote "Is It a Sin")

Yes, I seem to remember her being there also?

Wasn't it sometime around that remake they did of "Spellbound"?

Here's the 'playtex' 45 for Mr Burton

I quite like it myself

Not all that long since I picked this copy up, but as it's a m/s promo, I just hope the other side isn't something worth having.

Likewise, the flip to "I'm spellbound" on Golden World has a lovely flip called "Am I glad now"

...Been using the term for some years, it's obviously a regional thing then.

Would Lils be more acceptable to you, perhaps? Thrups, maybe? Whatever your preference, you can't deny the accuracy of my statement! :g:

Thank you John ( good title for a song ) : you are the only one to pick up on it , and indulge me with a little bit of schoolboy humour .......
