Dean Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Kev Holmes just text me to alert me to the Kenny Smith unplayed Lord, What's happening to Your People on Pete S current sales on here. Tempted but spent up at the moment. That got me to thinking, there are GAR djs (and booted), GAR issues, and Goldspot (Lord What's Happened) G101. I don't ever recall seeing a Goldspot DJ/demo. Do they exist?

Dean Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 Wasn't there a Goldspot boot ? I don't think I've ever seen a Goldspot boot, but that doesn't say much. Do you recall it looking like the G101 issue? Manships guide (getting dated now 3rd Edition) only refers to GAR boot.
Pete S Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Wasn't there a Goldspot boot ? The rumour was that all of the Goldspots were boots - but it's a different version to the one on GAR
Dave Moore Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Goldspot is the local Ohio label owned by Kenny Smith. It was the only release on the label. Kenny went on to become General Manager at GAR.
Soul Shrews Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 The rumour was that all of the Goldspots were boots - but it's a different version to the one on GAR Heard that old Simon was behind the Goldspot boots. Don't think they're all boots just Simons. Cheers Paul
George G Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Heard that old Simon was behind the Goldspot boots. Don't think they're all boots just Simons. Cheers Paul Originals of the Goldspot 45 were pressed at QCA in 1971, should be obvious in the dead wax. I've never seen (and probably never will) a boot to compare the two. Goldspot was originally Smith's BMI publishing name. - George

Any difference on the labels etc? Anyone actually seen/handled one for definite?
