Was listening to a moving tribute to Levi and the 4 Tops on Radio Stoke last night and following the sad loss of Levi and Dee Dee Warwick last week; it set me wondering how many of our heroes are still with us and still performing.

I realise that they are all reaching that certain age and a lot of the giants such as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, James Carr, Jackie Wilson, Levi etc.... are now performing at that great choir in the sky; however maybe we should focus on those that are still around.

I know that Stevie, Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, Philip Mitchell, Jimmy James and others are still performing.

What others do we know about?

At one time all of the above had never been heard of. Now, we have been graced with great performances from them for many years. They hold the key for aspiring new singers to emulate them. Let's hope that some of tomorrows heroes can be acquired from today's new artists.
