Guest Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 (edited) Hi everybody, email me directly on mail@resolutionrecords.co.uk if interested in anything here - any questions/queries welcome too. Postage is extra - I'm happy to ship anywhere globally - cash/cheque/IMO's/PO's preferred but will accept Paypal IF people are willing to pay the extra % as I cannot afford to cover it. Everything strictly graded - my Ex grade means very likely almost unplayed and I rarely use M so order with complete confidence. I've only had one record returned cos of condition issues since June this year - this speaks volumes.... ***SOUNDCLIPS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST*** Terms: Orders held for 3 days ONLY. If you order / reserve a record I'll definitely reply within 24 hours. In other words, if you've ordered / requested a record, check your mail within the next 24 hours for my response. I WILL get back to you within this time frame which means I expect you to reply accordingly. If I don't hear back from you within the next 2 days, then I'll assume you don't actually need the record(s) and if necessary, will offer it to the next person. Sorry to have to be strict but thanks to a few people requesting records and never even having the decency to come back to me I'm having to do this. If you have requested records from me and not bothered to reply it has also been noted and your next reservation will be treated 'accordingly'... 1) Curtis 'How Can I Tell Her' (Charm City / 12" / Ex+ / USA) *SOLD* ( A truly amazing record. A Modern / Northern Soul standard and now picked up by the Disco collectors....finally!!! The 12" release rarely comes up for sale. Still always in big demand and the 7" is actually pretty common. Another BIG personal fave kids - one of THE first 80s Soul records I ever bought... ) 2) James Simpson Band 'On The Money (Bounce-Get-Down)' / 'Can't Get Over You' (Penco / 12" / M- / USA) *HELD* ( Quality Disco / Funk winner on the topside and a great Modern Soul dancer on the flip. Highly collectable indie release that has always been a rare 12" to find.... ) 3) Clymax 'Musicland' / 'Dance How Yuh Feel' (LPS / 12" / Ex+/M- / USA) *HELD* ( Calypso Disco outta Brooklyn. Killer cut and a big Dimitri from Paris fave, comped by him on 'The Kings of Disco' Vol 1 and in a nice pic bag too ) 4) Ernie Bush 'Breakaway' (Contempo-Scepter / 12" / M- / UK) *£50* ( THE first 12" single EVER released into the UK! Never had/seen this one before? A bit of 'discohistory' right here! Long, long Disco Mixes on both sides and an ABSOLUTELY brilliant record - period! ) 5) Esther Williams 'I'll Be Your Pleasure' (RCA / 12" / Ex+ / USA) *HELD* ( Beautiful soulful Disco - as mixed by the unique talent that was Larry Levan. 110 BPM for those of you for whom that sorta detail matters....LOL...pretty hard on OG issue USA 12" -I've had the UK press a few times but rarely get this issue ) 6) Lace 'Can't Play Around' (Atlantic / 12" / Ex+ / USA) *£25* ( Another Larry Levan winner. This has got Paradise Garage written all over it... ) 7) Cathy Davis 'Come Back Home' (Twelve O'Clock / 12" / Ex+/M- / USA) *HELD* ( Very very indemand Tommy Stewart produced indie Disco release. A great, soulful version of the JJ Barnes track. Cool pic baggie too... ) 8) John Davis 'I Can't Stop' (Sam / 12" / Ex+ / USA) *HELD* ( His best production / release by far. Super funky disco with one of the best Disco breaks EVER put on wax.... ) 9) Fantastic Aleems 'Hooked On Your Love' / 'Dub' (Panorama / 12" / M- / USA) *HELD* ( Classic Boogie from Mister Leroy of Burgess ) 10) Boogieman Orchestra 'Lady, Lady, Lady' (RCA / 12" EP / Ex+/M- / USA) *SOLD* ( Ultra-rare four track one sided 12" with an otherwise unissued (Disco) version of The Boogieman Orchestra's massive Disco/Soul indemander ) 11) Venise 'The Best Disco In The City' (Quality / LP / Ex/M- / Canada) *HELD* ( Big Big demand on this Canadian-only LP - copies now completely dried up it seems? 'Don't Think About It' on here was recently covered by Joey Negro on his Sunburst Band album project. What a great song....!! Jo Bisso-produced ) 12) Cirt Gill 'Turn This Disco Out' / 'Dub' (Jam-A-Ditty / 12" / M- / USA) *HELD* ( Largely unknown Disco indie. Sounds like something on P&P or Heavenly Star and with a brilliant break too - engineered by the one and only Bob Blank... ) 13) John Gibbs 'J'Ouvert' (TEC / 12" / M- / USA) *HELD* ( Total Disco classic. Downtempo, almost dubby Loft sound. Comped by Joey Negro recently this one is a promo copy with long/short mixes too... ) 14) Janice McClain 'Giving My Love' (Mon-Tab / 12" / M- / USA) *SOLD* ( Now rarely seen, beautiful soulful Disco/Boogie. From 1983, but sounding much earlier..... ) 15) Webster Lewis 'You Deserve To Dance' (Epic / 12" / M- / USA) *HELD* ( Promo only 12" release for this (strings-heavy) winner from Webster. Killer production with an awesome disco break. Co-produced by my boy, Herbie Hancock - what a man! ) 16) Skip Mahoney 'Janice' (Salsoul / 12" / M- / USA) *HELD* ( Needs no introduction from me or anybody else for that matter!! Simply one of THE greatest 12"s ever made - this 12" has more soul in it that a 1000 substandard other, so called, Northern Soul 45s - believe me...every black music collector should own this...still sounding every bit as good and fresh as when I first heard it right back in the early-80s - so hard to find now and if anybody wants to disagree, then I'll have to come 'round and punch their fcuking lights out - okay? ) 17) Taana Gardner 'Taana Gardner' (West End / Dbl LP / Ex+/M- / USA) *£50* ( Five tracks mixed and re-dubbed by the master, Larry Levan. Includes the full 12" version of the indemand "When You Touch Me" spread over one full side! Seriously hard release to find now - only ever released as a Dbl LP promo with the extra/longer mixes on... ) 18) Bad News Band 'Rockin On Down' (NMI / 7" / Ex+ / USA) *£100* ( Rare, rare indie-disco private press joint from 1981 which is currently massive on several scenes - price will rise - this one is a KILLER!! Rare as rocking horse...clubby Disco-Funk tune which, rumour has it, will soon be featuring on a forthcoming BBE rare disco compilation by one of the "Kings Of Disco". Incredibly hard to find........few teeny-tiny scuffs here and there - barely worth mentioning, but I will.. ) 19) The Rock Gazers (feat Gordon Grody) 'I Believe In Love' (Sixth Avenue / 12" / M- / USA) *£20* ( Soulful Disco outta NYC with a coupla good, bongo-led breakdowns...fair price... ) 20) Mary Clark 'Take Me I'm Yours' / 'You Got Your Hold On Me' (La Shawn / 12" / M- / USA) *HELD* ( Super-tuff Patrick Adams production from 1980 - never had this one before and has been thru the bay recently @ almost $250 so £75 is a very fair price here...Billy Nicholls is also heavily involved - 2 strong sides...one uptempo and one downtempo ) 21) The Joneses 'Sugar Pie Guy' (Mercury / 12" / M- / UK) *£15* ( Ok - I realise this isn't in the same 'Rare League' as most other stuff on this List - BUT - it is still a cracking Disco 12" and here's the longest mix you'll find of the cut anywhere - 6 and a half minutes...with the equally good Gabor Szabo 'Keep Smilin' on the flip - dubble bubble... ) 22) Odia Coates (with Paul Anka) 'Make It Up To Me In Love' (Epic / 12" / M- / USA) *HELD* ( Again - not a big rare but still a super-soulful Disco 12" - lovely squelchy mini-moogs mixed in there too for good measure...and a great / interesting Disco break right in the middle - early 12" release - 1976, I believe? ) 23) Eddie Cheba 'Looking Good (Shake Your Body)' / 'Instrumental' (Destiny / 12" / M- / UK) *£10* ( I must admit to not being a fan of the vocal mix here so I always check for the Dub mix when I get this in cos it's cracking instrumental... ) End-of-List-thanx-for-looking-Mark-Rez Mark O'Shaughnessy....
