It was unreleased but was issued 9boot?) on a white label Soul lookalike:

KNIGHT, GLADYS & PIPS SOUL 20662 IF YOU EVER GET YOUR HANDS ON LOVE / PIECES OF MY BROKEN HEART

also, seen it on a green tamla motwon lookalike uk demo reissue with martha reeves 'no one there' on the flip, might just go for that for now

cheers...andy

I thought the original release of this was on the Tamla Motown Connoisseurs CD, which was an offical release. Therefore if only playing originals, make sure there's a CD player handy.

The following is taken from the CD sleevenotes.

Gladys Knight and The Pips: Here Are The Pieces Of My Broken Heart

An absolutely massive dance floor favourite - when you hear something as awesome as this it's hard to believe it has never been released anywhere before - until now! The brilliant Gladys at her soulful best.

It is the 'First' vinyl release, but a bootleg is an illegal issue, so apart from the bootleg, it was never officially released by Tamla Motown. Although, saying that I have seen it listed on the 'Tamla Motown' subsidiary label 'Soul'?

The plot thickens.

Sorry to jump in Andy but on a similiar topic of Gladys Knight.......

Her recording of How can you say goodbye......was never given a release but it has turned up on lesser soul compilations.

I would like to know more info on this track, I have asked on site before but to no avail :(

Cheers Mick.

Thats the first i have saw it out on vinyl Gladys Knight compilation. And from 1980!

I had it previously on a vinyl album called "Souled Out" with Sam & Dave, Martha Reeves etc, released at the same time as the above.

The sleeve notes described the track as unreleased.
