Jerry Hipkiss Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 How can it be a boot if it was never released? Lenny Err...because it's not a legal release.... 1
Bigsoulman Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Err...because it's not a legal release.... Right got that bit Jerry but then who owns the master plate/tape?, Tim Brown? L
Supercorsa Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 I thought the original release of this was on the Tamla Motown Connoisseurs CD, which was an offical release. Therefore if only playing originals, make sure there's a CD player handy.
Supercorsa Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 The following is taken from the CD sleevenotes. Gladys Knight and The Pips: Here Are The Pieces Of My Broken Heart An absolutely massive dance floor favourite - when you hear something as awesome as this it's hard to believe it has never been released anywhere before - until now! The brilliant Gladys at her soulful best. 1
Guest Gogs Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 so the bootleg is the original vinyl release
Northern Soul Uk Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) It is the 'First' vinyl release, but a bootleg is an illegal issue, so apart from the bootleg, it was never officially released by Tamla Motown. Although, saying that I have seen it listed on the 'Tamla Motown' subsidiary label 'Soul'? The plot thickens. Edited September 5, 2012 by Steve Luigi
Haydn Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) Sorry to jump in Andy but on a similiar topic of Gladys Knight....... Her recording of How can you say goodbye......was never given a release but it has turned up on lesser soul compilations. I would like to know more info on this track, I have asked on site before but to no avail https://youtu.be/h-yX7elfx6w Edited September 5, 2012 by Haydn

Haydn Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) Cheers Mick. Thats the first i have saw it out on vinyl Gladys Knight compilation. And from 1980! I had it previously on a vinyl album called "Souled Out" with Sam & Dave, Martha Reeves etc, released at the same time as the above. The sleeve notes described the track as unreleased.
