Guest soulwaxusa Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 (edited) What's up with the Gene Toones on ebay??? It's got 16 minutes to go and it's at just under 100 million US dollars? Has the world gone mad? What is up??? P.S. Just caught the thread about the disc... it sounds like people are putting in crazy bids to mess with a bogus dealer. This could hit CNN news tonight.... highest price a phono record ever received on auction! Insane!!!!!! Crazy!!!! Edited April 15, 2005 by soulwaxusa

Guest soulwaxusa Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Good Show! It's about time everyone gets together and takes action against these scam artists! In the first place I would never buy a big record from someone with 0 feedback! It should be funny watching this guy try to collect his $$99,999,999!!! I wonder what his ebay final value credit is going to be???

Tony Turner Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Do they not take credit card details from you when you register? And will he not have to pay a percentage of $100 million to Ebay? TT
Marc Forrest Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Do they not take credit card details from you when you register? And will he not have to pay a percentage of $100 million to Ebay? TT link He has to (about 4 million dollars ) but at least he can get refunded when the buyer is not paying for the item. At a guess he will cancell his account which at another guess will not have been run on his real identity anyway to avoid paying the heavy fee...
Guest alison Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 This could hit CNN news tonight.... highest price a phono record ever received on auction! Insane!!!!!! Crazy!!!! link There would be a positive side to media investigation, this arsewipe may finally get the comeuppance he deserves, and ebay deserve to be held responsible for not protecting their buyers. How often have scams like this been reported to them and yet they do absolutely nothing about it. On the other hand there is also a downside; there's a thousand and one con artists out there that currently have no knowledge of the rare record collecting scene and to draw attention to it would possibly attract a deluge of career scammers
Guest Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Just to add my two cents... I agree with Alison... I believe it will definately attract a deluge of scammers... This is truly ashame as many a collector with a true desire to get hold of that precious item they've been after for years will be sadly taken advantage of... Thank God for this site and others like it that are keeping an eye out for scams and reporting what they see... "If your not AWARE... You cant buyer BEWARE... Peace, Wordz.
