Guest Eridu Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I posted a few days ago about an acetate i recently found in an old store stock collection here in NJ... 10" with no label, only marked 'Problem' in wax crayon. The song is, in my opinion, superb. Here is an excerpt: https://www.supload.com/listen?s=VOWEIM4H4DP7 Anybody recognize it? Artist? Label? Was this released? If so, was the release the same mix? I have another acetate (latin soul) from the same collection which appears to be from the same studio, or at least, the same pressing plant. I'll try to get a clip of that one up soon...
Ady Croasdell Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 It's Larry Banks' Spring 45 'We Got A Problem' great record. Cheers Ady PS Check out the Larry Banks Kent CD, fascinating story and great music.
Sebastian Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Anybody recognize it? It's "We Got A Problem" by Larry Banks on SPRING (#105). Sounds like the same mix/version to me.

Guest Eridu Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Thanks! You guys are quick! I'll try to get the latin acetate up later today. Anyone have a copy of the "We've Got a Problem" issue for sale? Only copy I can find online is a recently completed ebay auction for $6(!)...
Guest Eridu Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I'll get the latin acetate up in the next 15 minutes
Guest Eridu Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Here's the latin acetate: https://www.supload.com/listen?s=4IF87KKDJTDV I know I've heard this one before, so forgive my ignorance. 3 points to the first ID!
Sebastian Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) Here's the latin acetate: https://www.supload.com/listen?s=4IF87KKDJTDV It's "Never Gonna Let You Go" by Jobell And The Orchestra De Salsa. Seems like a different take than on the JAN label 7" though... The released version is faster and has got strings in the background. Edited October 15, 2008 by Sebastian
Guest Eridu Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Interesting... Could it be the shorter version referred to on this PYE 45? https://cgi.ebay.com/JOBELL-THE-ORCHESTRA-D...p3286.m63.l1177

Could it be the shorter version referred to on this PYE 45? https://cgi.ebay.com/JOBELL-THE-ORCHESTRA-D...p3286.m63.l1177 The JAN 45 has got the same combination of short version / disco version. And I seem to remember that the 12" on JAN has just got the "disco version" (the flipside is a tune by Zebra)
Prophonics 2029 Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Is thee more brass on this mix or is it my memory playing tricks on me again.

Guest Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 (edited) There was a Larry Banks on this sales list from back in April: https://www.soul-source.co.uk/Norther...ale-t27115.html Such an extensive list it may still be in his stock. Edited October 16, 2008 by Guest
