Guest TKMAXX Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Anyone got one knocking about? PM or email me on timkeenoy@yahoo.com Cheers
pikeys dog Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 not got a spare - but make sure you know which version you want - the sparse backing one, or the one with added "jazz drums"
paultp Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 There's one finishing today on ebay [here] No idea which version though.
pikeys dog Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 That's the sparse one without added ''brushes"
Guest TKMAXX Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 That's the sparse one without added ''brushes" Cheers lads - what's the one on the King Rythm & Blues cd then?
michael-j Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Cheers lads - what's the one on the King Rythm & Blues cd then? the later one (although given the earlier catalogue number in the sleeve notes)
pow wow mik Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 the later one (although given the earlier catalogue number in the sleeve notes) sure the one with the extra drums is the earlier one Michael? they sound overdubbed, although eqallly they could have realised how bad they sounded and took them off for a later release. They've got different b sides if that's ahelp, 'person to person' and 'cottage' if i remember right, which i probably dont.

Guest TKMAXX Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 So, in summary lads what one is on the King New Breed Rythmn and Blues CD as that's the one I want? Your help is greatly appreciated and can't read the CD notes as at work! Cheers Tim as far as i know: King 5342 - I'm Shakin' / Cottage For Sale - 1960 <-- w/out drums King 5823 - Person To Person / I'm Shakin' - 1963 <-- w/ drums of course you're quite right, the drums could well have been on a mix at the time, and weren't deliberately added for the later release, just the wrong tape was used (seemed to happen occasionally) maybe some early numbered copies have the drums too?
pikeys dog Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Imagine the snare drums being hit with the brushes - if that sound is on the 45 then it's the later reissue... jazzed up, as it were.
weetwood white Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Imagine the snare drums being hit with the brushes - if that sound is on the 45 then it's the later reissue... jazzed up, as it were. I have a M- copy( originally from Craig Moerer). PM if interested. £75. I'm 99% sure it's the 1960 issue, but will check at home tonight.
Prophonics 2029 Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Imagine the snare drums being hit with the brushes - if that sound is on the 45 then it's the later reissue... jazzed up, as it were. I was talking to Andy Brazil about it he said its the first version he heard played so likes this one better, I though it sounds like a Skiffle version.
paultp Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 There's another one on ebay [here], the sparse one. I've had a couple of copies of this but never quite got on with it and always sold them. It starts off great but then just doesn't go anywhere, maybe that's just my short attention span.
