Harry Crosby Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Have any fellow sourcers come across this one, last night my wife found an item she wanted on e-bay buy it now, it was listed as two in stock, so she paid for it only then to recieve an e-mail this morning saying sorry out of stock? a full refund has been recieved, i phoned the store this morning to ask about this and was told they were sold last week? just wondered if anyone had come across this before, i found the item last week and they had four in stock surely if they had been sold through e-bay there stock should have been adjusted accordingly, the item in question was at a remarkably low price as well

Can take a while to update stock if it is listed more than once. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk

Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk understand what your saying mick, but i worked in a retail enviorement and all invoice sales were connected to stock records via computer, so as one item was sold it adjusted your stock accordingly, the other scenario here is if i`d have had say a demo copy of this record and sold it to buy this issue copy wich in my opinion is much rarer where then would that leave me? in my opinion should retail over the counter stock be listed on e-bay? or indeed listed on any other site ie gemm etc at the same time as a buy it now proposition on e-bay?
Cheapsiderecords Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Absolutely agree Harry Just had the same deal with Dusty Groove, ordered and paid for 4 45's and they only had 1 in stock? Does it really take that long to update a data base? I can possibly understand if it is a part time seller but when it is someones business they really need to be more vigilant.
