Barry Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Just been flicking through the threads and been transported back to Rotherham sometime upon hearing this beautiful slab of jazzy, summery soul - and now I want it - how much should I be expecting to part with?
Barry Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 I remember having an LP ('Modern Times' was it?) at the time with it on, it'll be about somewhere, it was a cracking comp. Anyone have a track-listing?
Guest mel brat Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) Just been flicking through the threads and been transported back to Rotherham sometime upon hearing this beautiful slab of jazzy, summery soul - and now I want it - how much should I be expecting to part with? About £600+ I shouldn't wonder... :( (It's by Stevens & Foster actually, on Jerri 1977) Edited October 15, 2008 by mel brat
Barry Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 About £600+ I shouldn't wonder... Oh well.
Guest mel brat Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) Oh well. Yeah, quite - and I think that's a conservative estimate! I bought one new in 1977 from Graham Warr for a mere .80p, but eventually let it go pretty cheaply in 1989... along with the Thompson Brothers on WMOT, Jean Shy "What Can I Do" on Fantasy, Charles Johnson etc. etc. (I was never much good at gambling either! ) "I Wanna Be Love" (sic) emerged on a bootleg CD sometime in the mid '90s I think, but the track had been dubbed from vinyl. Incidently Deep Soul man Roshell Anderson had an uptempo release on Jerri at about the same time, but sadly nobody seems to want to pay £600+ for it! Edited October 15, 2008 by mel brat

OK, that's some small consolation..., but that's still about £250 more than I like to pay! Edited October 15, 2008 by mel brat
Tommaso Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 "Only" £300, eh?? OK, that's some small consolation..., but that's still about £250 more than I like to pay! Probably cheaper than 300£..Never a 600£!
Keithw Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Probably cheaper than 300£..Never a 600£!I Would pay 300 if someone was selling a minter less for lesser grades

Guest OSCARP Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Yes but probably the L.P. was just dubs off the records so not worth much
Barry Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 Yes but probably the L.P. was just dubs off the records so not worth much When I picked it up in prob '82 (pre the www) it was worth the world.
Barry Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 When I picked it up in prob '82 (pre the www) it was worth the world. It was a cracking compilation filled majoritively with stuff that a jobbing punter wouldn't be able to get near at the time. (Before someone states the obvious there were also affordable tracks on it too, yes)
Barry Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 I don't recall Al Mason being on there though - I maybe wrong.

Called "Hot Wax" or something like that?
