Godzilla Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Well, a couple of weeks ago Mrs G was away on training and my pal's wife was also away, so we got some beers in and had a 'record night'. Now it's fair to say that we drank more than the government guidelines recommend, and I ended up digging out all kinds of stuff and we recorded some of it onto a memory stick for my mate. This weekend I get an email saying "what's that thing that sounds like Paula Durante?" I ask him what on earth he's on about and he sends this track back and I can't for the life of me think what it is - and it's obviously on of my records! Had a shufty through the stuff I put away recently and am none the wiser. Anybody help a codger losing his brain cells? Track in next post
Godzilla Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 I know the song from years ago, just can't remember the details - It is similar to "If He Were Mine" and I think it goes back to about the same time, late 70's, when I had it. It won't be an unknown, just a forgotton track - some on on here wil know it - probably called "Give Love A Chance" Sorry can't be of any more help. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk Cheers Mick. I don't think it can be that unknown or I'd know that I had it - if that makes sense I keep thinking it must be a b side to something that we just flipped on the night thought was ok. I feel a right idiot, but maybe a bit less so now as no one has jumped in and said "it's so-and so you pillock!" Someone must be able to put me out of my misery. Maybe I should just get psst again... Paul
Godzilla Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 Any ideas then? There have been a fair few listens by the looks of it, but no suggestions as yet. I know it's hardly the most important tune in the world but it's really doing my napper in. Can't be that tricky if I've got it. Just been through a few hundred 45s with no joy
Chalky Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 the better version is the 4 larks - another chance
ajb Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 (edited) is it called "somebody took your heart" Edited October 13, 2008 by ajb
Godzilla Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 the better version is the 4 larks - another chance That's it!! - I forgot all about the LPs. Just checked and it is indeed of that cheapo Philly LP. I think I even posted a question on here about it. Must have dragged it out while deep in drink. I feel even dafter now but at least I can sleep tonight. Cheers Chalky Paul

Cheers Chalky Paul Good Grief!! - The Four Larks - No wonder I knew it from somewhere - about FOUR WHOLE DAYS AGO, I played this to someone down the phone and consequently sold it then and there (Got a spare though for myself). Can't say I know this posted version though - Philly LP? - Which one - is it still the Four Larks - sounds very similar in vocal style, but not quite the same ?? Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk Sorry Mick should have made myself more clear. It's The Detroit Sound LP on Wyncote, Cameo Parkway's budget label. The one that Jumping At The Go Go was on. Bought it a few weeks ago, played it, posted on here with a question then slung it in a cupboard and promptly forgot about it. Until drunken record night evidently. Can someone throw up the Four Larls version?
