Driveller Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Latest news from Scenesville is that work continues apace on the big website upodate for Scenesville's mega one-off at Carisbrooke Hall. Sorting through the DJs' playlists I noticed that the five Scenesville residents' top 20s make up a pretty handy Hot 100. For the sake of space here's a condensed 'Floorshaking Fifty' that should give you a bit of a flavour of what's lined up for the big do on the 23d. To check out the rest of what's on offer, and to see who's planning on playing what, take a trip to www.scenesville.info/DJs Meanwhile, prime that shoe leather for this lot: SCENESVILLE'S FLOORSHAKING FIFTY WALLIE & ROSE - Switch Around - BELTONE ACETATE DOLLS - The Reason Why - TOY SOUL INC. Driveller Posted April 14, 2005 Author Posted April 14, 2005 Looking at the list, has Andy Rix come out of retirement for the event or sold some of his records? Hi Hippo, No, Andy's still not involved in the scene and he hasn't sold any records. Some (but not all!) of the records that have caught your eye are from Rob Thomas's playlist. Andy & Rob have always worked as a partnership when it comes to digging up records, and they have DJd from the same box for many years, and this is still the case, even though it's only Rob doing it these days!. Rob doesn't always get the credit he deserves for the finds he's made over the years, and many of the top Scenesville sounds that Andy used to play are technically from the 'Rob section' of the box, including "Switch Around", Not The Marrying Kind", "Try My Love" and many others. Rob has always been a strong supporter of Scenesville and has actually guested in his own right three times, which makes him the ideal person to headline the night, with a set that celebrates the best of Scenesville so far and takes the sounds one step further with even more stunning new discoveries in the true spirit of Scenesville. Check out in particular the Linda And The Pretenders acetate with a different take of "Believe Me" and the astonishing Detroit Magnificents track - soul-stirring stuff! Personally, I think he's going to take the roof off - but we'll all have to wait until the night to see how! All the best, Nick
TheBigO Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Good luck for the event Nick. I am elsewhere behind the decks on that night but hope it all goes well for you, be sure to update me. Can you also send me a private PM with Rob Thomas contact details, been meaning to have him down at the Plinston for a while. Cheers
Paul McKay Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Hope it all goes well Nick, afraid I'm going to be down in South Wales. See you soon.
lisahurley Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Looking forward to Saturday night Nick, and to seeing you guys at it again
