Remember hearing the Pyramid at St Ives, blew me away. They played it a couple of times that night. I remember going through my dad's Brook Benton LP's the next day for a version or bizzare cover up scenario. Eventually got it on tape from Manship, then dare I say the dodgy Golden Eye pressing. Will get round to owning an original some day, some how biggrin.gif

It could also be the sign of a good DJ, guaging when to drop in a well known record.

eg The 100 club 25th anniversary, when Mick Smith span 'Aint no mountain high enough', and brought the house down.

I think you will find that Dave used to play the Rueben Bell version on a regular basis not the Supremes......Good gear in those days :wicked: effected your ears whistling.gif remember how good My hearts symphony sounded over the casino shit sound system! and how shit at home over a good one

One thing when people refer to some records that were played at Wigan etc, which seem a bit "odd" nowadays, in those days rammed fill of the best pills availiable most things sounded good.....

No Steve it was 100% definitely The Supremes, I had the tape I did for years after and played it a lot.

Now come on Steve, the best gear in the world wouldn't make Gary Lewis sound good. I remember hearing scandal about His dad Jerry Lewis beating his kids. You could see his point. whistling.gif I Thought it was a pity it didn't stop Gary being a "musician"(and as for "This Diamond Ring").................

Never knew that it got played at all Steve - remember buying it as a new release (on Deluxe) but I've never thought it a strong enough version. Flip's nice if you like deeper soul ballads though...

Seem to have this vague recollection of Russ playing a cover of another Supremes record - think it was booted on a black label - "Back in my arms again" possibly? It's all very hazy now....
